Current WWE Women’s United States Champion Jacy Jayne is stepping onto WWE’s main roster with complete self-assurance, declaring herself as the company’s new “It Girl” while opening up about her journey through the developmental system.
Appearing on The Wrestling Classic, Jayne reflected on transitioning to the main roster after checking off major milestones, describing her current run as a lifelong ambition brought to fruition.
“Yeah, I love it. Um, I feel like I’ve envisioned this life my entire life. So now to actually be living it, it’s a dream come true,” Jayne said.
Rather than viewing the main roster as a daunting step up, Jayne emphasized that her extended tenure in NXT equipped her with the necessary resilience to navigate any creative scenario.
“But also, I feel like I’m just so prepared. Um, I feel like I’ve had everything possible thrown at me in NXT,” Jayne explained. “So now being on the main roster, there’s nothing that you could throw at me that I’m not prepared for. And I feel really comfortable. Um, so I feel like I can overcome anything. Like nothing really scares me. Nothing. I don’t have fear about anything.”
Jayne underscored her mindset every time she performs in front of WWE crowds:
“I just every time I walk through that curtain, I just want to make the most of my time and show everybody that I am the new WWE it girl.”
Despite her recent momentum, Jayne acknowledged that she still feels overlooked by critics and fans who underestimate her capabilities inside the squared circle.
“Well, I feel like people just overlook me in general still to this day for some reason. I feel like I’m just not taken seriously as a competitor and I will never understand that,” Jayne noted.
Addressing the shifts in her television positioning following her initial rise in Toxic Attraction, Jayne pulled back the curtain on navigating creative lulls and sliding down the card before rebuilding her foundation behind the scenes.
“Um, but definitely all the work I did behind the scenes. Like I feel like people, you know, I was always on television. There was never a time I was taken off of television, but I was doing things and I was in roles that were not the lead role. You know, I wasn’t the top person. I was mid to low card at times,” Jayne admitted.
“And that’s a hard pill to swallow because, you know, when I came in in Toxic Attraction, we came—we were at the top. Like I was immediately thrown into like a main event scene. And then that dispersed and I kind of just kept falling down the card and was just like doing things, you know, that probably didn’t really mean too much. Um, and I really had to like look in the mirror and figure things out for myself.”
To refine her craft, Jayne doubled down on her training schedule away from the spotlight.
“And I did a lot of work behind the scenes that most people don’t know. You know, I was working morning and night doing my Performance Center schedule and going to another school at night to perfect my craft.”
