Tony Khan Comments on Britt Baker’s AEW Status

Tony Khan Comments on Britt Baker’s AEW Status – AEW President Tony Khan has addressed ongoing questions regarding the status of former AEW Women’s World Champion Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. Uncertainty surrounding Baker’s future with the company has continued since July 2025, when mixed reports began circulating about her standing within AEW.

At that time, some reports claimed Baker was actively seeking to leave the promotion, a story that gained traction due to her long-standing role as one of AEW’s foundational stars. The report was quickly disputed by FightfulSelect, which stated that every source contacted denied Baker was attempting to exit the company. Despite those denials, Baker has remained largely absent from AEW programming, which has kept speculation alive among fans.

Khan addressed the situation during a recent appearance on the Battleground podcast. While he did not provide specific details regarding Baker’s absence, he emphasized her value to AEW and spoke positively about her role in the company’s history. Khan highlighted the growth of the women’s division and suggested that the expansion of AEW’s programming has created more opportunities across the roster.

“I really like Britt a lot, and I think there are so many exciting things happening in the women’s division,” Khan said. “Britt is somebody I really like and respect a lot, and I definitely think as we’ve evolved—with more tag teams and singles wrestling opportunities now across multiple shows, now that we have four hours of TV with Dynamite and Collision, I think there are going to be more and more opportunities.”

When asked directly whether Baker would return to AEW, Khan made it clear that he does not believe her run with the company is over. However, he stopped short of offering a timeline or explanation for her absence.

“You’re seeing I’m signing a lot more young wrestlers, and Britt is still somebody very highly regarded and respected here in AEW,” Khan continued. “So, I would expect to see Britt back in AEW. I just don’t want to say when.”

Khan’s comments reinforce that Baker remains in good standing with AEW, but they also reflect a familiar pattern of limited clarity. As of now, no official reason has been given for Baker’s time away from television, and her return date remains unknown.
