Shawn Michaels Reveals He Will Undergo Double Knee Replacement Surgery – WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels has confirmed that he will soon undergo surgery to repair a longtime injury that has continued to affect him. Speaking on Shannon Sharpe and Chad Ochocinco’s Nightcap Podcast, Michaels shared that both of his knees will be replaced in the coming weeks.
“Hell yes. I’ve had my back fused. I’ve had my shoulder replaced,” Michaels said (via Fightful). “I got two knees that I’m getting replaced in, probably in a month. I wouldn’t change it for anything in the world. I knew that going in. I knew the price that was going to come along with it. When I worked on the road, we did 286 days. When I got a part-time schedule, it was 150 days. I enjoyed every minute.”
The surgery will be the latest in a series of procedures for Michaels, who has endured numerous injuries throughout his storied career. He previously underwent back surgery following damage suffered during his 1998 Casket Match against The Undertaker at the Royal Rumble, an injury that nearly ended his career.
Just last month, fellow Hall of Famer Kevin Nash revealed that Michaels had already undergone back surgery and noted that knee replacements were likely on the horizon. Those comments have now been confirmed by Michaels himself.
While the exact recovery timeline has not been disclosed, it is expected that Michaels will take time away from television to focus on his rehabilitation once the procedure is completed. Given his current role in WWE as Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative and a leading figure in NXT, his absence could be noticeable behind the scenes as well.
Michaels emphasized that despite the toll wrestling has taken on his body, he has no regrets about his career and remains grateful for the life he has led in and out of the ring.
