Shawn Michaels Says NXT Has the Best Two-Hour Show on TV – Shawn Michaels has been part of WWE for nearly four decades, and while his days inside the ring are behind him, his influence continues to shape the company. Now serving as WWE’s Senior Vice President of Talent Development and Creative, Michaels oversees NXT, guiding the brand’s creative direction and talent growth.
In a recent interview with Justin Barrasso of Undisputed, Michaels expressed pride in NXT’s evolution and the brand’s partnerships with outside promotions, including TNA and AAA. He pointed to these collaborations as a significant step forward, but ultimately credited NXT’s success to its roster and team.
“I’d be lying if I didn’t think we have the best two-hour show on television,” Michaels said. “The most exciting. The partnership with The CW is huge. They’ve been fantastic. We’ve had collaborations like NOAH, TNA, and AAA, but all our success comes down to the athletes that walk through the doors of the Performance Center every day in Orlando. It’s a testament to all the work that our coaches and our creative team and the entire production team in NXT.”
Michaels also emphasized what makes NXT stand apart in the wrestling industry — its mission to develop stars for the main roster. Unlike other promotions that build talent for long-term returns, NXT consistently sends its top performers to RAW and SmackDown.
“There’s not another brand out there that works so hard to create stars in order to lose them,” Michaels explained. “Everybody else builds stars to be able to draw money and ratings for their show. We do it to then send them off somewhere else. That is unlike any other brand, and it is part of the value NXT brings to the wrestling business as a whole.”
