Paul Heyman Defends Brock Lesnar Against “Lazy” Narrative

Paul Heyman Defends Brock Lesnar Against “Lazy” Narrative – Paul Heyman made it clear in a recent interview with Inside The Ropes that he has no patience for anyone calling Brock Lesnar “lazy.” Heyman strongly pushed back against critics, reminding fans of Lesnar’s achievements across multiple sports and pointing out the hard work it took to accomplish them.

“Anybody who thinks that Brock Lesnar is lazy is not taking a look at the right circumstance. Come on. Lazy? Lazy got him to an NCAA Division One heavyweight championship. Lazy had him knock out Randy Couture in his fourth MMA fight,” Heyman said.

Heyman stressed that Lesnar didn’t win through luck or technicality—he delivered a knockout against a UFC Hall of Famer.

“Brock Lesnar didn’t grapple Randy Couture, take him down, tap him out. He knocked out Randy Couture in his fourth professional fight.”

He went on to highlight Lesnar’s ability to bounce between WWE and UFC at a level few athletes could ever match, especially after nearly dying from diverticulitis.

“He works his way back to WWE after almost dying from diverticulitis. He comes into this locker room. He’s 265 pounds. Then he goes back to 295 pounds. Decides to fight a top-eight heavyweight after six years out of the octagon named Mark Hunt. I have to say that name separately. Mark. Hunt. Because if you say it fast, that’s what happens to those Samoans, brother.”

Heyman pointed to Lesnar’s 2016 UFC victory as another sign of his drive, noting how quickly he shifted back to WWE and delivered a controversial match against Randy Orton.

“Goes down to 265, beats Mark Hunt, and then comes back at 295 six weeks later in WWE and puts on a performance against Randy Orton that pissed off everybody to the point that people in the locker room thought it was for real. And maybe it was—because I’m not telling you when it comes to Brock Lesnar. I’m just throwing it out there for you to decide for yourselves.”

For Heyman, the argument is simple: Lesnar’s career speaks for itself. Far from being lazy, he sees “The Beast Incarnate” as one of the most intense and accomplished athletes to ever compete in professional wrestling or MMA.
