Kevin Owens Sends Video Message to Green Mountain Wrestling Amid Injury Recovery – Injured WWE superstar Kevin Owens made a surprise appearance for independent promotion Green Mountain Wrestling, opening their latest show with a special video message recorded from his home.
Owens, who appeared under his real name, Kevin Steen, congratulated the promotion on crowning its first-ever champion and expressed regret that he could not be in Vermont to attend the event in person. He explained that he would have loved to personally present the championship belt to the winner of the tournament, which was ultimately captured by “Moonlight Son” Mike Skyros.
The choice to introduce himself as Kevin Steen served as a nod to his roots on the independent wrestling scene, where he built a celebrated reputation before joining WWE. Owens also revealed that he has been following Green Mountain Wrestling’s progress and has enjoyed watching the promotion’s growth.
His involvement is another example of WWE’s increasingly collaborative approach under Paul “Triple H” Levesque. In recent months, WWE has opened its doors to partnerships with other companies such as TNA and has allowed talent to make special appearances at select outside events.
Owens has been sidelined since April after undergoing neck surgery. In recent interviews, he described the procedure as a “best-case scenario” and indicated that he hopes to return to the ring within the next year. In the meantime, he has provided occasional updates for fans while continuing his recovery.
Green Mountain Wrestling will hold a collaboration event with GCW in Vermont on November 9. The full video of Kevin Owens’s message is available below.
