Eddy Thorpe Breaks Silence After WWE Release – Former WWE NXT talent Eddy Thorpe, known outside the ring as Karl Fredericks, has publicly addressed his recent departure from WWE, offering blunt commentary on social media regarding the circumstances that led to his release.
Responding to a fan on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, Fredericks made it clear that his exit from WWE was by choice. “I asked for my release from WWE so I could do something f**king meaningful with my life,” he wrote, marking his first direct comment on the matter since his release in early May.
Fredericks, who had been part of NXT under the name Eddy Thorpe, had not previously spoken about the situation in public. However, in a separate post, he shed light on one specific incident that contributed to his frustration with the company. According to Fredericks, WWE blocked him from performing a free DJ set during WrestleMania 41 weekend in Las Vegas.
“WWE wouldn’t let me DJ for free in Vegas mania weekend,” he posted. “While other talent got to make money on their outside ventures.”
A fan suggested that WWE might have restricted the opportunity due to the company’s well-known policy of taking a share of outside earnings. But Fredericks countered that claim with a sharper explanation: “Nah. Worse. Because they didn’t want ME doing sht.”*
Fredericks’ comments underscore a growing concern among some WWE talent over the limitations placed on their outside activities, even as the company has promoted expanded brand partnerships and crossover opportunities for others.
While WWE has not responded publicly to Fredericks’ statements, his remarks reflect a sentiment shared by other wrestlers who have voiced concerns about creative control and personal freedom. Fredericks now joins a list of recently released stars who may look to reignite their careers on the independent scene or with other promotions worldwide.
