Booker T on WWE Releases and Triple H–Rock Tension – WWE Hall of Famer Booker T offered his veteran perspective on the recent WWE talent releases, describing them as an unfortunate but standard part of the wrestling business, particularly in the post-WrestleMania period. Speaking on his “Hall of Fame” podcast, he advised current and aspiring wrestlers to always be prepared for such an eventuality.
“It didn’t catch me off guard at all,” Booker T stated regarding the May 2025 releases. “I’ve been a part of WWE now for a very, very long time, and every year, especially after WrestleMania, a list comes out, and guys get cut… getting released is something that’s been happening since I’ve been in this business at a certain time of the year.”
He emphasized the business nature of the industry: “Do you want to be on that list? Of course not, but this is a business, and that’s one thing that you better always keep in the back of your head that you might be getting let go sooner or later.” Booker T even shared his personal long-term mindset: “I’m gonna tell you right now. I’ve been planning to get that note for about 20 years. I’ve been preparing for what’s next knowing that they’re going to come to me one day and go, ‘Hey, Book, man, we appreciate everything you’ve done here, but we’re going a different route.’”
His advice for talent facing such situations was to maintain readiness: “That’s my advice to these young guys. Hopefully they are preparing for a moment like this, so they’ll be ready just to keep everything moving.”
Booker T also weighed in on the possibility of backstage friction between WWE executives Triple H and The Rock, suggesting that in a “testosterone-fueled business” with “two alphas,” some level of headbutting wouldn’t be shocking.
When asked directly if he believes there is behind-the-scenes heat between the two powerhouses, Booker T offered a candid perspective. “It could be. I wouldn’t be surprised,” he stated.
He elaborated on the nature of the wrestling industry and the personalities involved: “Let me tell you right now, man. When you’re dealing in a testosterone-fueled business and dealing with a bunch of men, I’m sure there’s going to be some heat and some friction somewhere down the line.”
Focusing on Triple H and The Rock specifically, Booker T remarked, “Then you got two guys like Triple H and The Rock. You got two alphas, man. I’m sure it’s going to be some headbutting here and there and again. So hey, man, I wouldn’t be surprised. Let’s just say that.”
