CW President: NXT Is a ‘Game Changer’ – WWE NXT’s shift to The CW Network in October 2024 is proving to be a resounding success, with the brand not only delivering strong ratings but also reshaping the network’s performance metrics. In a recent interview with Variety, CW President Brad Schwartz praised the WWE-CW partnership, calling it an “absolute game changer for The CW, and I think it’s been a game changer for WWE.”
Schwartz revealed that the most recent quarter was the highest-rated NXT quarter in the past five years, showing a 19% increase year-over-year. This spike in viewership has significantly bolstered The CW’s overall ratings, contributing to a 40% season-over-season growth for the network.
One of the most striking metrics shared was NXT’s ability to outperform a major broadcast competitor. “In adults 18 to 49 and 25 to 54, we’re regularly beating FOX on Tuesday nights. It’s unheard of,” Schwartz noted, emphasizing how rare it is for The CW to top one of the Big Four networks in those key demographics.
Describing NXT’s presence as “absolutely crushing for us,” Schwartz credited the program’s success as a major driver of The CW’s ongoing ratings resurgence. The ratings boost underlines the impact of WWE’s younger, developmental brand when given a consistent national platform.
In addition to celebrating NXT’s current performance, Schwartz revealed that discussions are ongoing between WWE and The CW about expanding their relationship even further. According to the report, both sides are “constantly” talking about possible additions to the programming slate, hinting at more WWE content potentially landing on the network in the near future.
This success story not only validates WWE’s strategic move to place NXT on a broadcast network but also reinforces TKO Group Holdings’ commitment to growing its television footprint. As WWE continues to deliver reliable ratings across multiple platforms, its partnership with The CW stands out as one of the strongest recent wins in sports entertainment media.
