WWE Looking to Expand Cathy Kelley’s Role Beyond Backstage Interviews

WWE is preparing to broaden the responsibilities of popular correspondent Cathy Kelley across company platforms.

WWE management has been highly impressed with Kelley’s recent output and feels her current position as a TV backstage interviewer underutilizes her broader skill set. The company is actively seeking ways to leverage her strengths across digital media.

Key Areas Targeted for Expansion

Internal discussions are centered around increasing her presence across digital and subscriber-focused initiatives:

  • Social Media Campaigns: Making Kelley a focal point for upcoming promotional and interactive campaigns across WWE social channels.
  • Club WWE: Placing her in a prominent role regarding the social and fan-facing aspects of the newly launched Club WWE platform.
  • Backstage Reception: The push for a larger footprint is expected to receive widespread support internally, where Kelley is considered very well-liked among talent and staff.

Potential On-Screen Roles and History

Kelley—who debuted in NXT in 2016 before taking a break between 2020 and 2022 to pursue acting—has publicly expressed an interest in taking on different on-screen opportunities.

While she participated in promo and in-ring training at the WWE Performance Center back in April 2025, she has indicated that her goal is not to compete as a wrestler. Instead, she has noted an interest in on-screen managing or participating in a potential reboot of Total Divas.
