Big Bill Helps Chris Jericho Win ROH World Title – During tonight’s AEW Dynamite, Chris Jericho captured the Ring of Honor World Championship for the second time in a brutal Ladder War match against Mark Briscoe, marking Jericho’s ninth world title win.
The finish saw interference from Bryan Keith, who attempted to help Jericho. However, Rocky Romero fended off Keith with a kendo stick, allowing Briscoe to hit Jericho with the Jay Driller. Briscoe then climbed the ladder, seemingly on the verge of retaining his title, until Big Bill stormed in through the crowd and chokeslammed Briscoe off the ladder and through tables at ringside.
Big Bill hoisted Jericho onto his shoulders, enabling Jericho to climb the ladder and retrieve the ROH World Championship. After the match, Tomohiro Ishii, accompanied by Romero, confronted Jericho. The commentators reminded viewers that Jericho and The Learning Tree had injured Ishii weeks earlier, hinting at further conflict.
Mark Briscoe had held the title for 202 days, winning it at Supercard of Honor on April 5 by defeating Eddie Kingston. Despite his long and storied career in Ring of Honor, this was his first reign as World Champion.
Jericho had been targeting Briscoe’s title for weeks, making the feud deeply personal by referencing Briscoe’s late brother, Jay, in promos. Briscoe successfully defended the championship at WrestleDream, defeating Jericho with the Jay Driller, a tribute to his brother. However, Jericho’s persistence paid off in this intense match, reclaiming the gold.
