MJF Returns at Double or Nothing, Confirms AEW Status – Following the opening match at the AEW Double Or Nothing pay-per-view event at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Saturday night, Adam Cole made a surprising entrance to the ring.
Cole addressed the Las Vegas crowd, expressing disdain for the fans and stating that he should be at home rehabbing his foot. He emphasized that no one understands what he has endured over the past two years, asserting his status as one of the greatest pro wrestlers of this generation. Cole then produced the devil mask, ominously stating that once he is fully healed, he will ensure the devil gets his due.
Suddenly, the lights went out, and a video began playing. The footage showed someone walking through a house, entering a room with a painting of MJF. The figure grabbed a diamond ring and a photo of Adam Cole. When the lights came back on, MJF appeared and walked out to the ring.
MJF approached Cole, initially hugging him before delivering a low blow and hitting a brainbuster. Taking the microphone, MJF ordered Cole to be removed from the ring, declaring that he had once trusted Cole, but that would never happen again. He credited Cole with reminding him of his true self, delivering a scathing promo in which he rejected the need for validation from New Japan or Vince McMahon, while wearing a jacket reminiscent of Triple H.
MJF announced that there would be no more compromises and that he was returning to his driven, hated persona. He unapologetically proclaimed his superiority, dismissing his critics and fans’ favorites. He dramatically destroyed the devil mask with an elbow drop, emphasizing that he needed no mask to prove his status.
Addressing his contract status, MJF revealed a tattoo of “Bet on yourself” with an AEW logo on a poker chip, asserting his commitment to AEW and dubbing himself the “wolf of wrestling.” He confidently declared that he was not leaving AEW.
