The Rock Vs Roman Reigns Match in Play, Saudi Arabia Talks – Dave Meltzer has provided insights regarding the highly anticipated matchup between The Rock and Roman Reigns, indicating that the possibility of the match is still very much on the table. According to Meltzer’s report, The Rock himself has expressed strong interest in this showdown in various media interviews.
Discussions have reportedly included the option of holding the match in Saudi Arabia, with the notion that such a high-profile bout could lead to increased financial incentives from the government and The Rock himself.
While the prospect of this epic encounter remains enticing, Meltzer emphasizes that nothing is set in stone. The match could potentially take place at next year’s WrestleMania, although this would continue a trend of speculation surrounding the bout for several years in a row.
During an appearance on FOX News, The Rock said the following about the match:
“We’re talking about that right now. I like to consider myself a long-gamer and a builder. The idea of going up against Roman Reigns and creating, if we were to do something like that, quite possibly and I mean this respectfully of all the WrestleManias before…with all the success and build up of all the WrestleManias in the past, if we were to do something like that, we could possibly put on the biggest WrestleMania of all-time. Short answer and long answer is we’re figuring it out.”
Another thing that is worth noting is that CM Punk’s injury and Brock Lesnar being pulled from creative plans has forced the company to make changes to the Mania card. After Rhodes made it clear at the Royal Rumble that he wanted to face Roman Reigns, WWE is now heavily teasing that it could be Rhodes vs. Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship, which could open the door for Rock vs. Roman at this year’s Mania show. Meltzer wrote, “We don’t have an answer to this at press time and were only told the answer to that question is about to be revealed sooner than later, and in fact, very shortly after this is published, which would indicate either on Smackdown or just before or after the show.”
