Vince McMahon Resigns From TKO Group

Vince McMahon Resigns From TKO Group – In the wake of the disturbing allegations against Vince McMahon, the wrestling industry witnessed a seismic shift as McMahon resigned from all roles within TKO, including his position as TKO Executive Chairman and on the TKO Board of Directors. The move comes in response to a lawsuit filed by Janel Grant, prompting a significant change in leadership within the TKO Group Holdings.

McMahon’s Resignation Statement

Deadline obtained a statement from Vince McMahon addressing the situation: “I stand by my prior statement that Ms. Grant’s lawsuit is replete with lies, obscene made-up instances that never occurred, and is a vindictive distortion of the truth,” McMahon said. “I intend to vigorously defend myself against these baseless accusations, and look forward to clearing my name. However, out of respect for the WWE Universe, the extraordinary TKO business and its board members and shareholders, partners and constituents, and all of the employees and Superstars who helped make WWE into the global leader it is today, I have decided to resign from my executive chairmanship and the TKO board of directors, effectively immediately.”

Official Communication from WWE President

WWE President Nick Khan issued a statement to the staff via email, confirming McMahon’s resignation: “I wanted to inform you that Vince McMahon has tendered his resignation from his positions as TKO Executive Chairman and on the TKO Board of Directors. He will no longer have a role with TKO Group Holdings or WWE.”

Dave Meltzer highlighted that McMahon’s departure from TKO signifies a definitive end to his influential presence in the company. Unlike his past ability to exert considerable voting power in WWE, McMahon’s influence has waned in TKO. Meltzer emphasized that McMahon’s resignation marks the conclusion of an era, as he no longer possesses the leverage to force his way back into the company, as he did after the UFC-WWE merger he approved post his resignation in the summer of 2022.
