Update on Butch Reverting to His Original Name

Update on Butch Reverting to His Original Name – There have been hints and reports indicating that Pete Dunne might be reverting to his original name. Last week, Butch teased a name change and suggested that the Brawling Brutes were a thing of the past. According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, the change back to Pete Dunne has been under discussion for a while.

Sources have indicated that the decision to change Butch’s name from Dunne faced significant opposition within WWE. One source mentioned, “It wasn’t even that it was a bad name. The name was okay. It was fine. But there was already a Butch. An actual wrestler named Butch already in our Hall of Fame.”

Pete Dunne, known for his success in NXT UK and NXT, has predominantly been featured as a tag team wrestler since his main roster debut. He was aligned with Ridge Holland and Sheamus, participating in tag team matches and supporting Sheamus in singles competition. Tyler Bate, who recently made his main roster debut, teamed with Butch against Pretty Deadly on SmackDown. The situation adds an element of anticipation for fans awaiting the potential return of Pete Dunne’s original name.
