Dakota Kai Updates Recovery from Torn ACL – Dakota Kai has been on the road to recovery since suffering a torn ACL in May 2023, and she recently addressed fan speculation regarding her progress during a Twitch stream. Despite appearing alongside Damage CTRL on WWE programming, Dakota Kai clarified that she has not yet been medically cleared.
Responding to fans who noted her ability to run and jump, Kai explained that while she can indeed perform these actions, there is a specific timeline for clearance set by doctors. She emphasized that her ability to run and jump in recent months doesn’t automatically translate to clearance because there are specific protocol and match-related criteria that must be met.
“I’m so sick of seeing people saying, ‘Look, she can clearly run and jump. But she’s not cleared still?’ No, that’s not how it works, you guys,” Dakota Kai said. “Obviously, I can run and jump because I’ve been doing it for the last few months. But they have a set date for when you actually get cleared because I have to still do matches, and they have to check all the boxes until I’m actually cleared. I’m not gonna be in a wheelchair for nine months, and then suddenly, after the nine months, just stand up and be like, I’m cured. That’s not how it works. That’s not how it works.
“If you think that’s how rehab works, where I’m just in a wheelchair for nine months and I suddenly stand up, I’m like, ‘Oh, bless, I’m freaking walking and running and jumping, it’s a miracle.’ No. Absolutely not, no. I have been running, yes. I have been jumping, yes. That’s not how rehab for any sport goes. Just putting that out there, so please stop with the ‘she’s lying, she’s faking it.’ Do you think it’s been my choice to not wrestle for nine months? Do you think that’s been a choice? No.”
Kai previously said that she would not be cleared until January 2024. As of this writing, it is not known when Dakota Kai will return to the ring.
