Eric Bischoff Discusses Pros and Cons of Monthly PLEs – Eric Bischoff’s insights on monthly premium live events (PLEs) or pay-per-view events highlight both their advantages and drawbacks. He acknowledges the positive aspect of these events, emphasizing their ability to generate substantial revenue consistently. The predictable cash flow and expected return on investment make them an attractive venture for wrestling promotions.
However, Bischoff also sheds light on the downside of frequent PLEs. He notes that the rapid pace and frequency of these events can impede storytelling within wrestling. With monthly events, there’s limited time for narratives to evolve or for audiences to fully absorb and speculate on the subtleties and nuances of ongoing storylines. This rushed storytelling might compromise the depth and intricacies that fans often appreciate in wrestling narratives.
In essence, while monthly PLEs offer financial stability and immediate returns, they can potentially sacrifice the depth and development of long-term storytelling in the wrestling landscape. Bischoff’s perspective underscores the delicate balance between financial success and the art of crafting compelling wrestling narratives.
“Having those monthly PLEs they generate great revenue,” Bischoff said on “Strictly Business.” “You kind of become addicted to that, right? That’s great cash flow, that’s predictable, you know you’re going to get a great return on your investment. That’s all the good news.”
“You don’t really have time to let stories sink in, or you have to tell them so quickly that the nuance some of the subtle aspects of stories that people like to read into and speculate about, you don’t get to do that,” he said. “Your speed reading through the book, you don’t really get to enjoy the book.”
