AEW Faces Criticism Over Handling of Kevin Sullivan's Departure

AEW Faces Criticism Over Handling of Kevin Sullivan’s Departure – The latest shake-up in AEW saw the departure of Kevin Sullivan, the Vice President of Post-Production, as confirmed on Monday. Mike Mansury, the Senior Vice President and Co-Executive Producer, made the decision, blindsiding many within the company.

Sullivan, who had previously transitioned from Impact Wrestling to AEW, played a pivotal role in establishing AEW’s post-production team based in Nashville. His departure marks a significant behind-the-scenes move for the company.

According to Dave Meltzer’s report in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the decision came as a surprise to Sullivan, who received little explanation beyond Mansury indicating a directional change for 2024. The suddenness of the decision left many in the company taken aback.

Meltzer wrote, “Sullivan had no idea it was coming and was given no real explanation as to why, just that it was a Mansury decision.”

The report continued by noting people in the AEW division didn’t even know Sullivan answered to Manysry and was said by those who worked in production that Mansury being Sullivan’s boss was never made clear.

People in production believe no one else will be cut, although those on the team are all of Sullivan’s people.

The report stated there was criticism from some that Tony Khan didn’t stop this from happening, considering Sullivan’s tenure.

Another person said,“Another day one guy gone. Sad. Great guy. Worked tirelessly since the beginning. Really understood the original mission statement and feeling/image we were going for.” Others noted they were in shock about it.
