Vince McMahon’s Role in UFC’s Debut in Saudi Arabia – UFC President Dana White recently revealed that Vince McMahon, the Executive Chairman of TKO Group Holdings, played a pivotal role in arranging UFC’s inaugural event in Saudi Arabia.
In an interview with Adam Stern of Sports Business Journal, White credited McMahon with facilitating the historic trip to Saudi Arabia. He stated, “It was Vince McMahon. It was 100% Vince McMahon.”
White went on to emphasize the extent of McMahon’s involvement, noting that McMahon actively made calls and kept him in the loop throughout the process, seeking his approval and ensuring everything was aligned. This marked a significant shift, as White described how McMahon went from being perceived as an enemy of UFC to becoming an invaluable and incredible partner in making the Saudi Arabia event a reality.
“He made every call, he didn’t make one move without picking up the phone and calling me and getting me in the loop and seeing if I was cool with this and that. And he went from being, oddly enough, I don’t know why, an enemy (of UFC’s), to being an unbelievable incredible partner.”
Vince McMahon’s influence and collaboration with UFC highlight the dynamic nature of the sports and entertainment industry, as alliances and partnerships can evolve and result in groundbreaking ventures.
