Kairi Sane Returns, Assists IYO Sky in Retaining Title – IYO SKY retained her WWE Women’s Championship at WWE Crown Jewel, defeating Bianca Belair with a little help from Kairi Sane.
Belair already had the odds stacked against her as Bayley interfered on behalf of IYO. As Bianca was dealing with Bayley, Sane made her return to WWE and took out Bianca on the outside. Bianca was able to get back in the ring, but she rolled into the top rope moonsault from IYO, which gave IYO the win.
After the match, Sane hit her top rope elbow on Bianca. Bayley watched from the outside and noted that the last time fans saw Kairi in WWE, she was being attacked by Bayley.
Kairi left WWE in July 2020 to return to Japan and become an ambassador for the company. After her WWE contract expired, she returned to STARDOM and wrestled her first match since July 2020 in March 2022 under the name KAIRI. She became the first-ever IWGP Women’s Champion at NJPW x STARDOM Historic X-Over when she defeated Mayu Iwatani.
SKY has now made five successful title defenses. She won the title after cashing in her Money in the Bank briefcase on Belair at WWE SummerSlam.
