Backstage Update on Potential CM Punk Return at WWE Survivor Series – As of the RAW taping in Grand Rapids, MI, WWE’s position on CM Punk’s return remains unchanged for this Saturday’s Survivor Series 2023 live event. Internally, there’s been no shift in WWE’s stance regarding “The Best in the World” making a comeback to the company.
Speculation had surged due to Punk’s departure from AEW and the event’s location at AllState Arena in his hometown of Chicago, Illinois. Many fans anticipated Punk might join World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins, Sami Zayn, Jey Uso, and Cody Rhodes as the mystery partner against The Judgment Day and Drew McIntyre in the Men’s WarGames Match at Survivor Series. However, Randy Orton was revealed as the surprise addition.
Reported by Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, WWE deliberately disclosed Randy Orton’s role to steer away from fans believing Punk would be part of the match at Survivor Series, affirming that WWE’s standpoint on Punk’s involvement in the event hadn’t shifted.
