WWE's Reaction to Edge Signing With AEW

WWE’s Reaction to Edge Signing With AEW – The former Edge, Adam Copeland, made his debut in AEW, saving Darby Allin and Sting from an attack by Christian Cage, Luchasaurus, and Nick Wayne at the AEW WrestleDream pay-per-view. Copeland’s debut marks a significant moment in his wrestling career, as he has signed a full-time deal with AEW and will be wrestling regularly in the promotion.

Reports from Fightful Select suggest that the reactions to Copeland’s signing within AEW have been overwhelmingly positive. Many within AEW view him as a valuable addition to the roster, and he is expected to fill a role similar to the one CM Punk left behind when he joined the company, known for being helpful and not causing internal issues. It’s worth noting that CM Punk has also been praised for his positive influence on many in AEW.

Some in WWE were surprised that the “Rated R Superstar” trademark was allowed to lapse, allowing AEW to use it. While it became apparent in the summer that Edge wasn’t returning to WWE, the move to AEW was somewhat of an open secret within the wrestling industry, with talent in both AEW and WWE speaking matter-of-factly about Copeland’s potential move.

The report noted, “Talent in AEW and WWE both spoke about Adam Copeland jumping ship as if it was going to happen as far back as mid-August. Sources that had worked with Copeland spoke as if it was a fact even before his last WWE match, though many were not told in an official capacity until well after that.”

Despite his departure, Copeland left WWE on good terms, and the door remains open for a potential return in the future.

It was added, “The overwhelming consensus was a positive within AEW and a “happy for him” within WWE.’
