Jon Moxley Pulled from Wrestling Revolver Match – AEW star Jon Moxley was unable to compete in his scheduled match for Wrestling Revolver on Sunday night, leading to a replacement and some controversy.
Moxley had been set to face Gringo Loco in a lucha street fight at the Revolver Redemption event in Dayton, Ohio. However, Rich Swann ended up stepping in to replace Moxley in the match. Moxley appeared to address the crowd and explained that doctors had advised against him wrestling at the event. Gringo Loco ultimately defeated Swann in the match.
Following his victory, Gringo Loco accused Moxley of being afraid to face him.
Jon Moxley has been sidelined since suffering a concussion during his match against Rey Fenix at Dynamite Grand Slam on September 20. He is scheduled to make his return to the ring at Dynamite Title Tuesday this week, where he will face Fenix in a rematch for the AEW International Championship (big spoiler here).
In their previous encounter at Grand Slam, Fenix emerged victorious to capture the International title. This title change was not initially planned but occurred due to Moxley’s injury.
Despite his absence from in-ring action, Jon Moxley remained active during the Wrestling Revolver event, participating in a meet and greet and presenting a trophy to Billie Starkz for her victory in Wrestling Revolver’s Women’s Grand Prix.
