During the October 9 episode of WWE RAW a number one contender for the Intercontinental Championship was determined. Bronson Reed managed to secure this opportunity by defeating Chad Gable and Ricochet in a triple-threat match.
Reed sealed the victory by executing his trademark Tsunami splash from the top rope, pinning Ricochet for the win. Prior to the match, Ricochet had been ambushed on the stage by Shinsuke Nakamura.
