Monday’s WWE RAW featured the aftermath of this past Saturday’s Payback event. At Payback, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn lost the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Titles to Damian Priest and Finn Balor.
While Owens didn’t compete on RAW, his tag team partner, Sami Zayn, faced JD McDonagh, who had interfered in the title match at Payback.
PWInsider reports that Owens was initially scheduled to have a singles match against JD on RAW. However, despite being backstage at the show, plans changed, and Sami Zayn ended up facing (and losing to) JD instead.
WWE’s plans can often be subject to last-minute adjustments and changes to keep storylines and matchups fresh and engaging for the audience.
