CM Punk Was Apparently Open to a WWE Return – Following CM Punk’s release from AEW, speculation has arisen among fans about the possibility of his return to WWE, assuming there is no non-compete clause attached to his termination.
Earlier this year, Punk made an appearance at a WWE RAW event, where he had discussions with several individuals, including The Miz and Triple H, as well as reconciling with old friends.
According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, people close to Punk have suggested that the idea of returning to WWE was something he considered. This idea was apparently being discussed from Punk’s side.
The report also indicates that Punk was open to the idea of leaving AEW around December of the previous year and was even encouraging it as a potential path to make a WWE comeback.
Furthermore, there were rumors circulating that Punk might have made a surprise appearance at the 2023 WWE Royal Rumble and faced off against the wrestler who eventually eliminated him, with Kevin Owens’ name being mentioned as a possible opponent. This hypothetical encounter was even rumored to be the main event of WrestleMania 39 – night one.
While these rumored scenarios haven’t been officially confirmed, they did circulate among WWE talent, suggesting that discussions about Punk’s potential WWE return were taking place at various levels within the industry.
