Brock Lesnar Accepts Cody Rhodes’ Challenge – Brock Lesnar and Cody Rhodes will meet for a third time at WWE SummerSlam, with Lesnar accepting Rhodes’ challenge in the form of an ambush on the superstar.
During tonight’s episode of WWE RAW, Rhodes opened up the show by receiving a warm welcome from the crowd, including some “welcome home” chants from the crowd in Atlanta, Georgia. After talking a bit about his ongoing history with Lesnar, Rhodes demanded that “The Beast Incarnate” come out, before mocking Lesnar when he wouldn’t.
After Lesnar wouldn’t come out initially, Rhodes continued on, praising the city of Atlanta and crediting it and his family — including his mother, who was sitting in the front row at ringside — for making him who he is. He then talked about the “hard times” that he would describe his relationship with Lesnar as, before saying that it would be hard times for Lesnar soon.
Rhodes then got out of the ring and went over to hug his mother and family, before Lesnar’s music hit. Cody immediately ran up the ramp to find Lesnar, but no one was there. As Rhodes turned away, Lesnar’s music hit again, but no one was there. After heading backstage, however, Rhodes was quickly sent flying back onto the ramp by Lesnar, who had arrived and began assaulting Rhodes.
Lesnar walked Rhodes back down the ramp, attacking him as he did so. Despite Rhodes’ family asking Lesnar to stop, Brock continued, eventually hitting a series of F5’s before throwing Cody into the ring and screaming that his challenge was accepted, and that they’d be seeing each other at SummerSlam.
