Update on Rumored WWE Releases Expected Soon – Once Vince McMahon returned to explore a sale of WWE, talent and employees worried about mass releases.
Once WWE agreed to be acquired by The Endeavor Group with the idea for WWE and UFC to merge to create a new publicly traded company, that fear grew even more, especially among employees.
As Endeavor COO Mark Shapiro pointed out after the announcement of the deal was made, there will be some employee layoffs since Endeavor already has people in departments that can handle things at certain WWE departments.
WWE CEO Nick Khan recently gave some insight into the expected cuts by giving a rough estimate when noting they would be aggressive cuts, and they think “50 (million) is a really conservative number.”
In recent days, there have been rumors going around that the cuts could be happening in July.
Insider account Boozer #BWE, which has broken past WWE stories, reported that while they don’t know the names, it was “subject to happen” as “part of an annual review.” The account added to expect “some few cuts here and there.”
