NJPW Reportedly Wanted To Bring In Naomi

NJPW Reportedly Wanted To Bring In Naomi – Naomi, real name Trinity Fatu, remains on the sidelines following her WWE departure.

Last month, Naomi posted an ad for her WrestleCon appearance earlier this month, and in the comments, a user asked her if she was “still in WWE,” and Naomi responded, “no frien.” This seemingly confirmed her WWE departure after walking out last year due to creative differences alongside Mercedes Mone.

Mone got her WWE release and signed with Bushiroad, the parent company of NJPW and STARDOM, earlier this year. Naomi recently filed a trademark that is seemingly for her new ring name.

Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that NJPW/STARDOM was interested in bringing in Noami, but money was the deciding factor not to make a deal happen as the parent company is trying to cut costs where possible due to New Japan’s declines related to the pandemic.

This comes at a time when Mone is in talks for a contract extension with NJPW/STARDOM ahead of the last match on her current deal, as she is slated to make her next title defense this Sunday.

Because of that, the wrestling division is under pressure to keep spending down. An example is that they were told they could bring in Trinity Fatu, but it was felt it would cost too much for the return and thus far hadn’t made that deal,” Meltzer wrote.

It should be noted that Naomi has been engaging in interactions with STARDOM stars such as Mina Shirakawa and Mariah May on social media. Whether we will see her share the ring with those wrestlers remains to be seen.
