Big Backstage Update On CM Punk Return To AEW – CM Punk AEW return is getting near, with the planned date being moved up from when it was originally expected to happen.
According to Dave Meltzer, the date had been slightly pushed up to go along with the expected premiere of AEW’s new Saturday show, AEW Collison, which is reportedly slated to premiere on June 17 in Chicago.
“As things stand right now, the return of C.M. Punk is scheduled for a 6/17 show at the United Center in Chicago, which being a Saturday night show, is likely the debut of the new weekly show.”
The report added there had been a conflicting story regarding people at Warner Bros. Discovery wanting and not wanting Punk back for the show, as some viewed him as an important factor in finalizing the deal for the program.
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Meltzer also reported that there had been no resolution to the issues with Punk and several on the roster for his actions at All Out, including the fight and rant at the post-event press conference. Punk hasn’t apologized to The Young Bucks, but there’s a reason for that.
Meltzer wrote, “As of the weekend there was no resolution to the situation and there are many situations and things involved. Since I’ve been asked about this a lot, Punk has not apologized or attempted to make any direct amends to the Young Bucks, although those close to him said that’s because he’s been told not to have any contact with them and without any contact he couldn’t.”
The report stated that nobody has said he would apologize if he could or is against doing so because there are people who want everyone to make amends, and that was suggested by many as “at least an attempt at a way.”
