Brody King On The Recent Hiatus Of The House of Black

Brody King On The Recent Hiatus Of The House of Black – House of Black member Brody King has revealed that he did not originally want to go on a hiatus.

The House of Black appeared to fall like a house of cards post-All Out.

Following the September 4 pay-per-view, Malakai Black took some time away from TV, confirming that he asked for his release from AEW after the event, but it was not granted.

Buddy Matthews later stated he was also taking some time out. He was written off TV during Rampage: Grand Slam after taking the pin in the House of Black’s tag match against Sting & Darby Allin.

With the group’s future uncertain, Julia Hart and Brody King were both sidelined.

In an appearance on Renee Paquette’s The Sessions, Brody King reflected on the group’s hiatus.

“I didn’t want to do it, I didn’t want to take a break. I felt like I had a lot of momentum at the time. Not just that, but I felt like I was really getting in my groove in AEW and showing who Brody King the professional wrestler was.

“I got to wrestle Darby (Allin) twice, I got to wrestle Jon (Moxley), I feel those three matches really put me on the map where people were like, ‘he’s just Malakai’s sidekick,’ to ‘Oh shit, he’s a threat.’ Those are the moments I was waiting for.

“It was never me questioning if I could do it, it was when I could do it. I feel it all came at the right time, and I was worried about taking the momentum away.”

The House of Black returned during the November 23 edition of Dynamite.

They are set to compete for the first time since All Out at AEW Dynamite: Winter is Coming.

Brody King recalled the moment the House of Black returned:

“We made this return and it was awesome and the whole crowd was standing on their feet and it was almost like we didn’t miss a step.

“I feel that rare in wrestling because fans are so, I don’t want to say fickle, but they forget about you quickly. For them to give us that reception was awesome.”
