Jon Moxley Takes Shots At WWE And Vince McMahon After AEW Rampage Tapings

Jon Moxley Takes Shots At WWE And Vince McMahon – After AEW concluded the tapings for the 8/26 AEW Rampage (click here for spoiler results), Jon Moxley and Bryan Danielson came out to address fans at the Wolstein Center in Cleveland.

Moxley vowed that the AEW locker room was determined to work their behinds off to present the best professional wrestling product on the planet. He then implored fans to ask their friends to check out AEW programming on Wednesday nights if they were already watching “that Monday and Friday night crap,” referring to WWE’s two flagship shows — Raw and SmackDown.

A little later, Moxley appeared to take a shot at former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon while praising ROH World Claudio Castagnoli. In 2014, when McMahon went on Steve Austin’s podcast, he commented on why the former Cesaro had failed to grab the proverbial brass ring. At the time, McMahon said Claudio lacked the IT factor and struggled to “connect with the fans” the way a top WWE Superstar is supposed to. While referencing the comments, Moxley praised Castagnoli for “ignoring some old crazy man’s” opinions and sticking to his guns.

Here is a full recap, thanks to PWInsider:

After they went off the air, AEW Champion Jon Moxley and Bryan Danielson came out and said that everyone was looking at the best professional wrestlers in the world.  He praised Dustin Rhodes.  He thanked the fans in Ohio and said they were great tonight.  He said he’s had a lot of great memories and monents in Cleveland but none as special as being in front of the said Wfans tonight.  He promised the entire locker room is going to bust their asses to put on the best professional wrestling on the planet for the fans every time they show up or watch on TV.  He told them to tell their friends to check out Wednesday nights if you are watching “that Monday and Friday night crap.”

Moxley said Dustin knows all about coming back from doubts.  He said William Regal came back from death and is the sharpest mind in the business.  He praised Wheeler Yuta for proving he belonged in the Blackpool Combat Club.  He praised Danielson for shoving everyone’s doubts up their a**.  He praised Claudio for ignoring “some old crazy man’s” thoughts on who he was to become the ROH Champion.  He praised Arn Anderson and said that they are all proof that if anyone says you can’t do something or what you can’t be, you tell them to shove it up their ass, because just like all the men in the ring, you can do anything and be anything you want.  He thanked everyone for their support and asked them to come back.

Moxley introduced Wardlow and gave him the ring.  Wardlow took the mic and told Cleveland he was going to keep it short and sweet since the fans have been around for many hours.  He sat at a lunch table with his friends, who he pointed out, in High School and told them they’d be sitting there watching him in the ring.  It took him 15 years, but here they are.  The crowd chanted, “You deserve it.’  He said his entire family is here.  He wasn’t having a great day but the second he walked out to the arena, the fans changed his entire day.  Being out in the ring is the best feeling in the world.  He said he was a poor kid from Middlefield, Ohio with no shot at a future, so no matter who you are, no matter how old you are, it’s never too late to start a dream or start a new life.  He said if you do things that make you uncomfortable and work really hard, you can do anything you want.  He thanked everyone from the bottom of his heart and said he can’t wait to come back because he lives for this.  He told the crowd he loved them.

AEW President Tony Khan came out and said he wanted to thank the fans.  He said he loves bringing AEW to Cleveland and brought out Danhausen.  Danhausen introduced FTW Champion Hook, who came out and promptly left.  Danhausen said this was where he debuted in AEW and since he’s come he has cursed Adam Cole, CM Punk and The Ass Boys.  He said that Wardlow is uncursable so he just wanted to say goodnight.
