WWE RAW Results (8/22) – We are live from the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, where Riddle and Seth Rollins are brawling backstage!
We go to the announcers talking about the situation and Seth and Riddle make their way through the crowd like they are Tie Domi and Dale Hunter. Seth with elbows and a kick. Seth is pulled ino the ringside area and Riddle with a cross body off the ringside barrier onto Rollins and officials. Riddle with more forearms.
The announcers run through the show.
In the Arena:
The pyro explodes in the arena as legenday Trish Stratus makes her way to the ring. Trish says it feels so good to be here. It feels so good to be home. She says not just Toronto, she means this ring. Between these ropes, it will never not feel like home between these ropes. She says she has been doing a lot of thinking lately…
Bayley’s music plays and the Bayley Bunch make their way out to the ring.
We go to commercial.
We are back and Bayley says that she is so excited to be on Raw in the ring with Trish Stratus. Bayley says she is a huge fan. Iyo says she is a big fan too. Bayley says that Iyo said that Trish is a legend in Japan and New Zealand. Bayley asks Trish what is she doing here.
Trish says there is a big match happening later with Edge back in a ring in Toronto for the first time in a decade. Before she was rudely interrupted by some non-Canadians.
Dakota says that no one cares what Trish has to say. Iyo tells Trish she doesn’t like her. Bayley cackles and she says that none of them like her. They are sick of Trish riding their coat tails all weekend. You have been on all of us all weekend long. We are sick of it. It is our ring now. You are the past. This is our show now and you are the past. Who do you think you are?
Bianca Belair’s music interrupts and she makes her way to the ring and she is on a mission to get to the ring.
Bianca says that Bayley isn’t in the same stratusphere. Trish walked so we could run. There would be no Bayley without Trish Stratus. Since you are standing here acting like this, I will tell you who Trish is. She is a trailblazer and a legend. Bianca says this is Trish’s city. She tells Bayley to stop being disrespectful.
Bianca says that Trish can defend herself. Trish tells Bayley that she can go from I am retired to I was retired if you don’t stop running your mouth. Bayley takes off her jacket like Trish did and she says that Trish is a little stupid and there are three of us and only two of you.
Trish says that her and the champion make two… Alexa Bliss and Asuka make their way to the ring.
Trish says the future tag team champions make four. Bayley says you are lucky that she is feeling generous and she will let Trish slide while they will see the other three idiots at Clash at the Castle. Trish tells Bayley and her friends that they will need luck to get to Cardiff.
Iyo Sky and Dakota Kai vs. Alexa Bliss and Asuka in a SemiFinal Match in the WWE Women’s Tag Team Tournament
Asuka and Iyo start things off and then Iyo tags in Dakota. Asuka calls Iyo a chicken. They lock up and Asuka with a side head lock take down. Dakota with a head scissors and Asuka escapes. Dakota with a head scissors take down and Asuka with a head scissors and Dakota escapes. Dakota goes to the floor to regroup. She gets on the apron and Asuka with a hip attack to send Dakota to the floor. Alexa with a drop kick to knock Iyo off the apron.
We go to commercial.
We are back and Alexa and Iyo lock up. Iyo with a waist lock but Alexa with a wrist lock take down. Iyo with a reversal. Alexa with a reversal of her own. Alexa with a hip toss and bridge for a near fall. Iyo blocks a kick and gives Alexa a leg trip. Alexa with an STO and a knee drop followed by a flip senton for a near fall. Asuka tags in and Iyo gets away from the corner. Asuka continues to call Iyo a chicken. They both say they don’t like each other. Iyo with a rollup for a near fall and a stomp to the hand. Asuka misses a sliding kick and Iyo misses a round kick but hits a back heel kick to the throat.
Dakota tags in and takes Asuka down and follows with Kawada kicks. Asuka with a pop up knee and then she gives Dakota a series of Kawada kicks. Asuka with a kick to the back and Alexa tags in. Alexa with a punch and Asuka with a bulldog for a near fall from Alexa. Alexa with a wrist lock and rollup for a near fall. Alexa gets another near fall. Alexa with another rollup for a near fall. Alexa with a jaw breaker and drop kick. Alexa sends Iyo off the apron and then Alexa with a cannonball off the apron onto Iyo and Dakota.
We see Dana Brooke and Tamina standing in ROOM watching MONITOR at ANGLE.
Dakota trips Alexa and rolls to the floor and kicks Alexa in the head as we go to commercial.
We are back and Iyo tags in and goes after Asuka on the apron and then stops Alexa from making the tag. Alexa with an enzuigiri and tag to Asuka. Asuka with kicks to Iyo. Asuka knocks Dakota off the apron with a hip attack and then she takes Iyo down with a shoulder tackle. Asuka with a hip attack into the corner. Iyo blocks a German suplex but Asuka with a series of spinning back fists. Asuka with a German suplex for a near fall. Asuka with kicks and Dakota distracts Asuka. Asuka misses a kick and Iyo with a kick to the back of the head followed by a springboard drop kick for a near fall.
Alexa tags in and she kicks Dakota in the knee but Dakota sends Alexa to the floor. Dakota tags in and she goes for a suplex on Asuka but Asuka blocks it and Asuka with a back slide for a near fall. Dakota with a scorpion kick to Asuka and Dakota misses a bicycle kick. Dakota avoids a Hip Attack in the ropes. Dakota with a running boot to the head for a near fall. Asuka with a spinning back fist and a running boot. Alexa with a double DDT to Dakota and Iyo. Asuka tags in and they hit a side Russian leg sweep and neck breaker combination on Dakota. Asuka stretches Dakota but Iyo makes the save. Alexa tags in and she sets for Twisted Bliss. Asuka makes the tag and Dakota gets her knees up. Iyo with a drop kick to Alexa. Asuka with a round kick to Iyo. Asuka with spinning back fists to Dakota. Dakota with a forearm and she misses a Yakuza kick in the corner. Iyo makes the blind tag and Asuka applies the Asuka lock on Dakota and Dakota taps and Asuka thinks she won but Iyo with a rollup for the three count.
Winners: Iyo Sky and Dakota Kai (Advance to Finals)
Backstage:
Kevin Patrick is backstage with Dolph Ziggler now, asking how he plans to bounce back against Finn Balor after last week’s loss to Theory. Ziggler says he’s been doing this for a long time, lots of highs and lows. He admits Theory was the better man last week, but he just wanted to help Theory. He says Theory has the world in his hands but he’s just so arrogant and that’s the problem… Balor interrupts and Rhea Ripley is with him. Balor mocks Ziggler for the “respect the veteran of the locker room” speech and says Ziggler makes him sick. Balor says Ziggler is the same as Edge and Rey Mysterio as he attaches himself to the younger Superstars to keep himself relevant, saying he can teach them something. Balor says Ziggler can’t teach him anything, kid. Ziggler says they’re the same age and there’s one thing he can teach Balor… Ziggler quickly drops Balor with a slap. Ziggler heads off as Ripley tends to Balor. Ziggler puts his head back through the curtain and asks if Balor is coming to the ring or if he’s going to sit there like a little bitch.
— We go back to the ring and out comes Dolph Ziggler for a pop. Ziggler poses on the apron as we go back to commercial.
Dolph Ziggler vs. Finn Balor
They lock up and Ziggler with a waist lock. Balor misses an elbow and Ziggler with a side head lock and shoulder tackle. Balor backs up and he connects with a knee and he sends Ziggler into the turnbuckles. Ziggler with a side head lock and Ziggler with a drop kick. Ziggler goes to the turnbuckles and punches Balor. Ziggler goes for a neck breaker but Balor escapes and gives Ziggler a double leg take down and punches. Ziggler is sent hard into the turnbuckles by Balor. Balor sends Ziggler into the turnbuckles again. Balor sends Ziggler into the turnbuckles one more time. Balor with a side head lock. Ziggler with punches and Balor with an Irish whip that sends Ziggler face first into the turnbuckles.
We go to commercial.
We are back and Balor with a side head lock. Ziggler with punches. Ziggler with a jaw breaker but Balor with a kick to the leg. Balor goes for a suplex but Ziggler lands on his feet and he connects with an uppercut. Ziggler with a kick and Balor misses a splash into the corner. Ziggler with a flying clothesline and then he punches Balor in the turnbuckles and hits a neck breaker. Ziggler with a leaping elbow drop for a near fall. Balor escapes a suplex and lands on his feet and hits an elevated elbow drop for a near fall.
Balor with boots to the chest. Ziggler counters sling blade into a rollup for a near fall. Ziggler with a kick and Balor with a power bomb to counter a Fameasser. Balor gets a near fall. Ziggler with a drop kick to stop a charging Balor. Ziggler with a DDT for a near fall. Balor blocks a super kick and Balor goes for 1916 but Ziggler lands on his feet and hits a Fameasser for a near fall. Balor avoids a Zig Zag and hits a drop kick that send Ziggler into the turnbuckles. Balor misses Coup de Grace and Ziggler with a Zig Zag for a near fall.
Balor and Ziggler exchange punches and Balor with a kick to the knee. Ziggler with a head butt to Balor and Balor grabs the referee and that allows Rhea to punch Ziggler. Balor with 1916 and Coup de Grace for the three count.

Backstage:
Sarah is in the back and she is with Aliyah. Sarah asks about her team with Raquel Rodriguez. Aliyah says she is a Bougie badass while Raquel is a beast. The Bayley Bunch shows up and Bayley tells Sarah she can leave. Bayley asks Aliyah if she was taking notes of Iyo and Dakota’s victory, but it does not matter. They ask where is Raquel. Bayley says that Iyo said that Aliyah is really brave or really stupid to show up on her own.
Trish shows up and asks Bayley when will she return to action. Aliyah challenges Bayley to a match and Bayley accepts.
Adam Pearce has something for security to look (Dexter Lumis photo) at as they walk in the hallway.

In the Arena:
We are back and Chad tells everyone to Shoooosh, please. Chad says Master Gable has a huge announcement. For the first time since its inception, the Alpha Academy is accepting new students. He figured he would start his search in Canada. Chad says he is regretting it and the only thing he has seen is toothless former hockey players hooked on Tim Horton’s. Chad mentions that the Maple Leafs lost to a team from Tampa Bay. Chad says they don’t even have ice in Tampa Bay. Chad says he found no talent in Canada. The only guy he hears about is some geek named Auston Matthews. Auston is an American and he does not have the talent to wash Otis’ jockstrap. Against his better judgment, Chad says he is hosting the first Alpha Academy Open Challenge. Chad tells Toronto to send their best. Chad says they won’t match up to him.
Kevin Owens makes his way to the ring.
Chad Gable vs. Kevin Owens
Owens with punches and Gable goes to the floor. Gable punches Owens on the floor but Owens with chops to Gable followed by a forearm. Gable with a side head lock and he holds on when Owens tries to send him off the ropes. Owens with forearms and a back elbow. Owens chops Gable in the corner. Gable with a forearm and a double thrust to the throat. Gable with a chop. Gable with a kick and Owens with a clothesline and back senton. Owens sets for a cannonball but Gable goes to the floor. Owens follows and Gable with a T-bone suplex on the floor. Gable goes to the apron and Owens with a forearm to the lower let and Gable falls face first on the apron. Gable blocks a power bomb on the apron. Gable with a back body drop and a German suplex on the apron.
We go to commercial.
We are back and Gable with a German suplex. Gable with another German suplex and he holds on for another one. Owens grabs the ropes to stop more German suplexes. Owens with a German suplex that sends Gable into the corner. Owens with a cannonball but Owens cannot capitalize on the situation. Owens with forearms and Gable fires back. They continue the exchange. Gable with a kick to the knee. Owens with a package brainbuster on the knee and then Owens goes up top for a frog splash and hits it for a near fall.
Owens sets for the pop up power bomb but Gable lands on his feet. Gable avoids a stunner and hits a German suplex for a near fall. Gable goes up top and hits a diving head butt. Gable gets a near fall. Gable puts Owens on the turnbuckles and sets for a superplex but Owens head butts Gable to the mat. Gable gets back to the turnbuckles but Owens with a super fisherman’s buster. Owens gets a near fall. Owens goes up top for a swanton but Gable gets his knees up. Gable goes up top and misses a moonsault but lands on his feet. Owens with a super kick followed by a pop up power bomb for the three count.
Winner: Kevin Owens
After the match, Otis attacks Owens from behind. Owens moves when Otis goes for a shoulder in the corner and Otis hits the ring post. Owens grabs Gable and he sets for an apron power bomb but Otis with a clothesline to stop Owens. Owens with a kick and stunner to Otis and then a kick to Gable and a power bomb onto Otis.
Backstage:
We see THE Judgment Day in the back. Rhea says that they run Raw and they will continue to beat everyone up. Finn says that Dom is liking getting beaten up so much. Finn says that Rey is in his pocket. Damian says that the cheers for Edge will be big because he is returning home. The cheers will turn to screams when I send you back into retirement.
They lock up and Bayley sends Aliyah face first into the mat. Aliyah with a double leg take down and jackknife cover for a near fall. Aliyah with an inside cradle for a near fall. Bayley goes for a gourdbuster but Aliyah lands on her feet. Aliyah with a matrix and hip toss. Aliyah with a head scissors take down and she gets a near fall. Bayley grabs Aliyah by the ear and then connects with knees in the corner. Bayley with a belly-to-back suplex for a near fall. Bayley kicks Aliyah in the shoulder. Bayley with a punch and suplex for a near fall. Bayley with a rear chin lock.
Aliyah escapes and then she goes for a clothesline in the corner but misses. Bayley with punches and a leg sweep. Bayley with a sliding clothesline for a near fall. Bayley with a reverse chin lock. Bayley sends the back of Aliyah’s head into the turnbuckles. Aliyah with punches to Bayley. Aliyah with a cross body into the corner but Bayley holds on and hits a double knee drop with Aliyah hanging in the ropes, as if she was Sasha Banks. Bayley gets a near fall. Bayley with a side head lock but Aliyah sends Bayley to the floor. Aliyah goes for a baseball slide but Bayley catches Aliyah and hits a bulldog on the floor. Aliyah with a Thesz Press and punches. Aliyah with punches and an Irish whip. Aliyah with a rolling single leg crab. Bayley grabs the hair to escape. Bayley with a monkey flip and Rose Plant for the three count.

After the match, Iyo and Dakota come out to celebrate with Bayley in the aisle.
— AJ Styles and US Champion Bobby Lashley walk in the back while Adam Pearce is with some Canadian Riot Squad members.

Ciampa and The Miz vs. Bobby Lashley and AJ Styles
Ciampa and AJ start things off and they lock up. Ciampa with a side head lock and he takes AJ to the mat. AJ with a Phenomenal drop kick and Lashley tags in. They pick up Ciampa and give him a double suplex but AJ lets go to allow Lashley to do the one arm delayed vertical suplex. Miz tags in and he kicks Lashley in the back of the leg. Miz with kicks in the corner but Lashley pushes him away. Miz lands on his feet on a belly-to-back suplex attempt. Lashley escapes a Skull Crushing Finale and AJ tags in and punches Miz and hits a flying clothesline into the corner. AJ with an ushigoroshi and then he stops Ciampa. Lashley press slams Ciampa onto Miz on the floor.
We go to commercial.
We are back and Ciampa tags in and he sends Miz into AJ for an Awesome Clothesline. Ciampa with a clothesline to AJ for a near fall. Ciampa with a punch and chop. Ciampa with a cravate and Miz tags in. Ciampa with a snap mare and Miz with a running kick. Ciampa with a kick and Miz gets a near fall. AJ with a snap mare but Miz keeps AJ from making the tag and he runs AJ into the corner. AJ fights out of the corner for a moment but Ciampa pulls AJ to the floor and Miz with a drop kick through the ropes. Ciampa sends AJ into the ringside barrier. Miz and Ciampa applaud their work and Miz Hulks up and rips his shirt. Lashley comes over to check on his partner. Ciampa with a reverse chin lock. Miz with knees to the back.
Miz works on the back and applies a rear chin lock. AJ with elbows but he cannot make the tag. Miz with a kick to the knee and a DDT for a near fall. Ciampa tags in and they make a wish with AJ. Ciampa with a reverse chin lock. AJ with elbows and a jaw breaker. Miz tags in and AJ with a Pele kick and both men are down. Lashley and Ciampa tag in and Lashley with a shoulder tackle and clotheslines. Lashley with an elbow to Miz and then Lashley with shoulders in the corner to both men. Lashley with a DDT and flatliner combination to Miz and Ciampa. Ciampa rolls to the floor to avoid a spear. Lashley avoids a clothesline and Lashley gets Ciampa up and runs Ciampa into the ring post.
Miz pulls Lashley to the floor to avoid a spear. Lashley clotheslines Miz on the floor and Ciampa with Willow’s Bell for a near fall. Ciampa misses a clothesline and Lashley with a spear but Miz breaks up the cover. AJ with a forearm to Miz and a slingshot forearm.
Someone attacks AJ against the ringside barrier but security takes that man away.
AJ runs into a boot and then a member of the security detail stands behind Miz and reveals himself as Dexter Lumis. Lumis pulls Miz over the guardrails and to the back. Miz was Kidnapped!
The referee calls for the bell.

After the match, Ciampa attacks Lashley in the corner and AJ with a Phenomenal Forearm. Lashley sets for a spear on Ciampa and hits it.

In the Arena:
We are back and Johnny Gargano makes his WWE return under a huge pop!
Johnny says surprise everybody. He says it has been nine months since he has been in a wrestling ring. He wants to make sure he is doing this right. He thanks everyone for reminded him who he is. Johnny introduces himself to those who don’t know. He says he was a big deal in NXT. He mentions the titles that he won in NXT and how he is the first Triple Crown Champion. Johnny mentions that he won the tag titles in this building. He says it is great to be back in Toronto. Johnny says there have been a lot of questions about where and when he would show up again. Johnny says he wondered if he wanted to do this any more. He says he was playing his brand new, fresh six month old Baby Wrestling. Johnny says he remembered that when he was younger, he had big impossible dreams. He dreamed about being the Intercontinental, US, and WWE Champion. He dreamed about wrestling at Wrestlemania. What kind of father would he be if he didn’t teach his son that you can make your dreams come true. Johnny says you can never fail if you bet on yourself.
Johnny says he is proud to announce that Johnny Wrestling is back in WWE. We are just getting started.
Theory interrupts and makes his way to the ring.
Theory asks if this is real. Has it been nine months? The crowd chants ‘Who’s Your Daddy’. Theory says a lot has happened in the last nine months. Johnny says he has changed a lot of diapers and he says that Theory has changed a lot.
Theory says he became the US champion, the youngest US champion. He competed at Wrestlemania. He says he is on his way to becoming the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. Everything you have dreamed of, I have done them. Theory says he couldn’t have done it without Johnny. Johnny took him under his wing on NXT. It is almost like I am the veteran and you are the rookie.
You can stand behind me. You can be my caboose. You can carry my bags if you want. Theory says that Johnny can carry his briefcase and hand it to him when he cashes in and becomes the WWE Universal Champion. Theory says he could show Johnny the way. If you don’t want to stand behind me and support me, maybe you just go away. Nobody wants to see that because they love them together. They are untouchable.
Theory wants to do the high five again and he tells Johnny to hit him with it. Johnny with a super kick to Theory!
— Next week, Seth Rollins and Riddle will have a face-to-face confrontation. The finals of the Tag Title Tournament will take place next week on Raw. Since Raw is in Pittsburgh, Kurt Angle will be on Raw.
— Edge and Damian Priest make their way to the ring as we go to commercial.
Damian Priest vs. Edge
They lock up and Priest with a clean break. They lock up and Edge backs Priest into the corner and then sends Priest to the floor. Edge flips off Priest. They lock up and Edge with a side head lock. Priest with a jumping knee. Edge pie faces Priest and then pulls him down by the hair jewelry. Edge pushes Priest to the mat and then sends Priest over the top rope to the floor. Priest gets back in the ring and Edge with a waist lock. Priest goes for an elbow but Edge blocks it. Edge sends Priest into the turnbuckles. Edge with a wrist lock. Priest gets to the ropes to force a break. Priest stomps on the foot and punches Edge.
Priest punches Edge in the corner. Edge slides to the floor on an Irish whip and then he punches Priest after he plays with Priest. Edge sets for a power bomb onto the ringside barrier and hits it. Edge gets back into the ring to break the count. The referee checks on Priest and Edge punches Priest. Edge sends Priest into the apron. Edge goes for a crossface but Priest gets to the floor. Edge with a baseball slide to send Priest into the ringside barrier. Priest with a chin lock against the turnbuckles and then he pulls Edge’s shoulder into the rin gpost. Priest kicks Edge against the ringside barrier.
Priest with a Broken Arrow for a near fall. Priest misses a springboard senton when Edge moves. Edge and Priest both go for clotheslines and boots at the same time. Edge with a flapjack and clotheslines. Priest with an Irish whip but Priest misses a splash into the corner. Edge with a swinging neck breaker in the ropes for a near fall. Priest goes to the floor and Edge goes up top. Edge with a cross body onto Priest and both men are down. Edge gets up first and returns to the ring to break the count. Priest choke slams Edge against the ropes and Edge bounces off the ropes. Priest gets Edge up for Splash Mountain through the table. Priest returns to the ring and the referee starts his count while Edge starts to stir on what is left of the announce table.
Priest sends Edge over the apron and connects with forearms. Priest with kicks to Edge. Edge with Edge-O-Matic for a near fall. Priest with a clothesline for a near fall. Priest with punches. Priest goes to the turnbuckles and connects with forearms. Priest grabs Edge for a choke slam off the turnbuckles but Edge with elbows. Edge sets for a Frankensteiner and hits it. Edge sets for a spear and he runs into a cyclone kick. Priest with an Unprettier for a near fall. Priest with a punch to Edge.
Edge with a knee and Priest with a knee. Edge with a kick and Impaler for a near fall. Priest with Reckoning. Priest sets for a spear and Edge gets up and Edge with South of Heaven for a near fall. Edge sets for a Sharpshooter but Priest kicks Edge away and Edge knocks the referee to the floor. Edge with South of Heaven and then he realizes the referee is not in the ring. Priest gets a few chairs for a One Man Conchairto but misses when Edge moves. Edge drops Priest on the chair on the floor. Edge breaks off part of the chair and applies the crossface using the chair to add more damage and then he releases the hold. Edge sets for a spear but Priest hits Edge with the piece of the chair. Priest can only get a near fall because the referee was not fully recovered.
Edge with a Canadian Destroyer followed by a spear for the three count.
Winner: Edge
After the match, Edge gets two chairs and he sets for the One Man Conchairto. Rhea Ripley with a low blow to Edge. Finn Balor with Coup de Grace to Edge. Beth Phoenix grabs the chair from Balor and she is ready to swing at someone and she forces The Judgment Day to back up. Finn and Priest hold Rhea back as we go to credits.
