Ronda Rousey became a champion once again when she beat Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women’s Title at WWE WrestleMania Backlash in an I Quit Match. This was a rematch from WrestleMania 38 where Flair went over.
Rousey has had one successful title defense since becoming champion as she beat Raquel Rodriguez on the May 13th edition of SmackDown.
During a recent live stream on Facebook, Rousey shared that she pitched to have a physical altercation with Drew Gulak in the bout as he had been part of the storyline leading up to the match.
“It’s funny, I pitched him [Drew Gulak] getting involved, getting thwacked… I pitched him getting involved for the ‘I Quit’ match [at WrestleMania Backlash]. Like running into him and thwacking [him].”
Rousey added later in the stream that she wishes she could wrestle Paige as the former WWE Divas Champion is her dream opponent. Although Paige has teased coming out of retirement, she is currently not cleared for in-ring action due to spinal stenosis.
Rousey was supposed to wrestle Sasha Banks at the Hell in a Cell event on June 5th, but Banks walked out last week at Raw. It’s unclear who her opponent will be.
