Backstage News On John Morrison’s AEW Status – Former WWE star John Morrison made his AEW debut on Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite when he was revealed as one of the jokers in the Owen Hart Cup tournament. He was introduced as Johnny Elite and lost to Samoa Joe.
Pwinsider reports that he is not signed to the promotion, but the door is open for additional appearances down the line.
Morrison was let go by WWE last November along with several other stars. This was his second run with WWE. In between his WWE stints, he worked all over the world including Impact, AAA, Lucha Underground, and several other places. Since his WWE release, he’s wrestled for AAA as well as Game Changer Wrestling (GCW).
His wife, Taya Valkyrie (Franky Monet), was also released by WWE last November and has since returned to Impact Wrestling in addition to working for AAA.
