Bron Breakker will defend the NXT Championship at NXT Spring Breakin’ on May 3.
On the April 19 episode of WWE NXT 2.0, Joe Gacy challenged Breakker to a title bout. For the duration of the night, Gacy was playing mind games with the champion; Breakker was looking for his foe because Gacy stole his father’s WWE Hall of Fame ring. Gacy threw it into a fire on the April 12 episode and retrieved it from the flames. Previously, he abducted Rick Steiner as part of his mission to torment Breakker.
On Tuesday night, once the champion finally found Gacy, the latter agreed to give him the ring back in exchange for a title shot.
Gacy then told Breakker that he needed to take a “leap of faith” before he shoved him off a platform, sending the champion tumbling to the floor below. A group of masked individuals swarmed Breakker as Gacy looked on.
Carmelo Hayes will also have a chance to regain the NXT North American Championship on Spring Breakin.
During tonight’s episode, Hayes defeated Santos Escobar in a hard-fought match. Escobar had been hoping to send Hayes, a former champion, to the back of the line so he could challenge for the gold himself. Instead, two mystery men attacked him late in the match, and Hayes pinned the former NXT Cruiserweight Champion for the win.
After the bell, Hayes challenged NXT North American Champion Cameron Grimes to a rematch at NXT Breakin’. Grimes accepted the challenge, and with Hayes distracted, Solo Sikoa attacked the former champion and his hype man, Trick Williams. The latter cost his title match against Grimes on the April 19 episode.
Later in the show, WWE confirmed that Grimes will defend the gold against Hayes and Sikoa at NXT Spring Breakin’.
