Io Shirai Injured? – Io Shirai is one of the top stars in the WWE NXT women’s division as she has been regularly pushed on the roster. Unfortunately, she is seemingly on the sidelines for now.
Io teamed with Kay Lee Ray in this year’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament where they won it to earn a tag team title shot against Toxic Attraction.
However, WWE had a different idea for them as they booked Shirai and Ray in the Women’s Title match at NXT Stand & Deliver earlier this month along with current champion Mandy Rose and Cora Jade to make it a fatal 4-way from Dallas, Texas.
During the match, Io hit a moonsault off the top rope to the floor to take out Ray, but her leg hit the announce table on the way down. Twitter user Sean Slate pointed out how Io appears to have a walking boot and using crutches to get around while hanging out with Shinsuke Nakamura. If she is injured then that would explain why she hasn’t been used on television since Stand & Deliver.
Shirai worked two dark matches at SmackDown events in late January and early February, which is done when WWE management wants to see NXT stars in action and consider calling them up to the main roster.
