Roman Reigns will make his next title defense as the Universal Champion against Edge at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view event on Sunday, July 18, 2021 from Fort Worth, Texas at Dickies Arena.
WWE set up the match on Friday’s episode of SmackDown when Edge interrupted a promo segment with Reigns and Paul Heyman. This led to a brawl with Edge hitting a spear to Reigns and later to Jimmy Uso through the barricade.
The next day on Talking Smack, WWE aired footage of a backstage segment where Edge demanded this title match with Reigns at Money in the Bank, and WWE authority figure Adam Pearce agreed to it.
Reigns took to Twitter to comment on the upcoming match by writing the following:
“Once they experience the #IslandOfRelevancy…They always want more. Edge’s Bucket List: [check mark emoji] ROMAN REIGNS vs EDGE. 1 v 1. FIRST TIME EVER. LIVE CROWD. LETS GO!”
