WWE Releases Tom Phillips

WWE Releases Tom Phillips – Longtime WWE announcer Tom Phillips is reportedly no longer with the company. While not officially announced by WWE as of this writing, Fightful reports that Phillips has been let go.

Phillips is the latest person to be released by WWE after the company has let go of wrestlers, referees, and staff members. He started working for WWE in 2012 as a backstage interviewer. He had also done announcing work on Raw, Smackdown, NXT, NXT UK, Main Event and even Superstars when it was still a show.

Phillips was the lead play-by-play announcer for Raw from January 2020 until this past April. He replaced Vic Joseph in the role until he was removed and replaced by Adnan Virk, who just agreed to mutually part ways with WWE earlier this week.

Former UFC and Bellator broadcaster Jimmy Smith has joined the Raw announce team alongside Byron Saxton and Corey Graves.
