WWE 205 Live Results – January 29, 2021 — Footage from Wednesday’s NXT is played showing updates on who advanced in the first round of the Women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. Tonight, Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moom will take on Marina Shafir and Zoey Stark. Whoever wins will conclude the first-round matches!
Vic Joseph and Nigel McGuinness welcome us to another edition of 205 Live. We head to the ring for triple threat action!
Jake Atlas vs. August Grey vs. Ariya Daivari
All three men test their strength with a Greco-Roman lockup. Ariya Daivari goes right for Jake Atlas with a kick to the midsection. August Grey throws Daivari to the outside. Grey dives through the ropes taking Daivari off his feet. Grey rolls back in to tango with Atlas. Atlas gains wrist control then twists Grey’s arm. Daivari misses a splash off the top rope. Atlas and Grey look on, unimpressed. Daivari finds himself in a rollup…he gets his shoulders up at two. Grey smashes Atlas with a big boot in the corner. Daivari chases Atlas and sends him off his feet with a superkick. Daivari throws Grey off the top rope. He hooks the leg on both his challengers for double two counts. Daivari Irish Whips Grey into the corner. Grey comes back towards Daivari but he gets steamrolled for another two count. Daivari rolls Grey up with a snapmare turned front facelock. The fans are rallying behind Grey by clapping.
Atlas finds his offense again with a nice dropkick on Daivari. Grey comes back into this match with a textbook neckbreaker. Grey hits a huge high crossbody off the top rope on Atlas. Grey sends Daivari inside out with Atlas breaking up the pinfall. Atlas and Daivari slug it out with back and forth forearms. Altas lands a superkick and pump kick. He hooks the leg on Daivari, who kicks out again! Daivari heads to the top and launches off with a frog splash on top of Grey. Daivari hooks the leg…1-2-no! Grey kicks out! Atlas sends Daivari crashing off the apron. He slams Grey on the canvas with a brainbuster. Next, he pushes Daivari into the announce team. Atlas looks for another brainbuster. Grey turns it around with a small package pinfall. Atlas gets his shoulders up at two. Atlas thinks he has the match in the bag with a cartwheel DDT. Daivari slithers in after clocking Atlas on the outside to connect the Pepsi Twist for the pinfall victory on Grey.
Winner: Ariya Daivari
We look back at Curt Stallion’s brutal attack from Santos Escobar. Next week, Escobar will defend his NXT Cruiserweight Championship. Also set for Wednesday, the semi-finals of the Women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic will begin. Now, we head back to the ring for the main event and last first-round match of this said tournament!
Shotzi Blackheart & Ember Moon vs. Marina Shafir & Zoey Stark
Shotzi Blackheart and Zoey Stark get things started. They begin with a lockup. Zoey shoves Blackheart back towards her corner. Ember Moon makes her way into the ring. Ember comes in with a high crossbody. Zoey changes the pace by dominating her with numerous stomps before making a tag out to Marina Shafir. Marina and Zoey join forces as Marina drops Ember on top of Zoey, who has her knees up. This only gets them a two count on the former NXT Women’s Champion. Ember goes to town on Marina with a series of knee strikes. Shotzi crashes into Zoey and Marina’s backs with a running senton. Ember knee strikes both opponents on the outside. Shotzi is back in with flying forearm strikes.
The referee turned her back and did not see Zoey’s interference on the apron. Zoey works Shotzi’s injured arm by driving her knee in. Marnia sends Shotzi crashing onto the canvas with a big pump handle. Zoey connects a devastating knee right after for another two count. Marina is back in. Shotzi counters Shafir’s submission with an enziguri. She gets a tag made to Ember. Ember throws Zoey with a double hook suplex. Ember flies off the top with a nice codebreaker. She hooks the leg and Marina comes in to break it up. Shotzi slides out of the ring to take care of Marina. Ember submits Zoey with a crossface/ankle lock. Zoey taps. Ember and Shotzi win!
Winners: Ember Moon & Shotzi Blackheart
They will advance towards the semi-finals in the Women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic! That concludes this week’s show.
