We’re live on a slight tape delay from the NXT Arena on the campus of Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida as Vic Joseph welcomes us.

He’s joined in the arena by Wade Barrett, who is back for his third week of guest commentary. WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix is joining them from home.

NXT Title Match: Finn Balor vs. Adam Cole

We go right to the ring for tonight’s opener for the vacant NXT Title as Finn Balor makes his way out. Adam Cole is out next, by himself, as Alicia Taylor does the ring introductions. The bell rings and we get formal introductions as Cole and Balor face off in the middle of the ring. NXT General Manager William Regal hands the title over to the referee and he raises it in the air.

They lock up and Balor with a clean break. They go for a Greco Roman Knuckle Lock but Balor with a take down into a front face lock and Balor stays on top of Cole and applies a reverse chin lock. Cole gets back to his feet and Cole with a head lock. Balor with a single leg take down into a side head lock. Cole with a rollup for a near fall. Cole with another rollup for a near fall. Balor with a side head lock. Balor with a shoulder tackle for a near fall. Balro returns to the reverse chin lock. Cole with a hammer lock. Balor with a reverse chin lock.

Cole escapes into a hammer lock. Cole gets a near fall. They lock up and Cole with a hammer lock. Balor gets back to his feet and Cole with a wrist lock but Balor with a reversal and fireman’s carry into an arm bar. Cole with an arm drag and Balor with a head scissors. Balor works on the left hand of Cole. Cole escapes the head scissors and Cole with a drop kick. Cole with forearms followed by a chop. Cole gets Balor up for an ushigoroshi and Cole gets a near fall.

Cole with a neck breaker. Cole with a knee to the back and he applies a reverse chin lock. Balor gets back to his feet and Cole with a neck breaker. Cole with a forearm and he sends Balor into the turnbuckles. Cole kicks Balor in the corner. Cole with a forearm and kicks. Cole with a hard Irish whip. Cole with a forearmCole with a sunset flip but Balor rolls thorugh and hits a drop kick. Balor with elbows to Cole’s chest and he returns to the reverse chin lock. Balor with a back elbow and he gets a near fall. Balor with a chop followed by a snap mare and kick to the back for a near fall. Balor with an elbow and a reverse chin lock. Cole with a jaw breaker.

Balor with a back elbow and a slam. Balor with an elbow drop for a near fall. Balor sends Cole into the turnbuckles and then Balor kicks Cole in the corner. Balor with a chop and drop kick for a near fall. Balor with shoulders in the corner followed by a chop. Balor iwth an Irish whip and chop in the corner. Balor with another Irish whip and chop into the corner. Cole with a forearm and Balor fires back. They go back and forth. Cole with the advantage and Balor with a kick. Cole with a clothesline and back elbow. Cole with a bicycle kick to Balor. Cole with an enzuigiri followed by a lungblower for a near fall.

Cole is taken down but Balor misses the double stomp. Balor with Slingblade but Cole with a running boot to Balor and he gets a near fall. Cole pulls down the knee pad for the Last Shot but Balor with a double leg take down and double stomp. Balor kicks Cole and the referee warns Balor. Balor with a baseball slide to send Cole to the floor and Balor kicks Cole on the floor. Balor breaks the count and then returns to the floor. Balor sends Cole into the time keeper area. Balor lines up for a running drop kick and Cole with a super kick.

They both get back into the ring before the ten count. Balor with a forearm and Cole fires back. They go back and forth and then they get to their feet to add some oomph into the forearms. Balor with a chop and Cole with a bicycle kick. Balor with a Pele Kick and he goes for a suplex but Cole with a shoulder breaker for a near fall. Cole goes to the turnbuckles but Balor with an enzuigiri to stop Cole and knocks him to the mat. Balor goes up top but misses Coup De Grace when Cole moves. Cole with a super kick to the knee and he applies a figure four leg lock.

Balor gets to the ropes and the referee forces Cole to break the hold. Cole sets for a super kick but Balor with Slingblade but Balor cannot fully take advantage. Balor with an elevated elbow drop and running drop kick. Balor hobbles to the apron and up top for Coup de Grace and hits it. Balor holds his shin and that delay allows Cole to kick out. Cole avoids 1916 and he applies the figure four leg lock on Balor. Balor tries to reverse the hold but Cole rolls through to keep the hold applied. Cole goes for the hold again and Balor with an inside cradle for a near fall. Cole with a super kick. Cole with Last Shot for a near fall. Cole goes to the turnbuckles for Panama Sunrise but Balor gets Cole on his shoulders. Balor cannot keep Cole up. Balor with a reverse 1916.

Balor goes up top and Cole with a super kick to the knee to stop him. Cole goes to the apron and then climbs the turnbuckles. Both men are on top of the turnbuckles and Balor with 1916 off the turnbuckles for the three count.

Winner and NEW NXT Champion: Finn Balor

Rhea Ripley says Mercedes has been trying to make a name at her expense. You aren’t the first and you won’t be the last. In that steel cage, I will show who I am. We go to the first commercial of the night.

– We are back and Finn Balor is congraulated by Triple H and William Regal. Adam Cole stops by to congratulate Balor and they Too Sweet. Finn says this is the reason he came back to NXT.

– Robert Stone is in the back with McKenzie and he says he knows things that others don’t. He walks by Shotzi’s tank and he is about to destroy it but miraculously Shotzi shows up and she hits Stone. Aliyah attacks Shotzi and Io is knocked down.

Aliyah realizes she did a no no and she goes into the ring. Shotzi stops Aliyah and then Aliyah turns around into Io. Shotzi with a forearm and Io connects with a forearm. Io with a butterfly backbreaker. Stone comes off the turnbuckles and Shotzi punches Stone. Io with a moonsault to Stone and Shotzi with a back senton onto Aliyah. Shotzi has the title belt and she pulls it away from io. Io takes it back and tells Shotzi not to make her hurt Shotzi.

– We go to Casa Gargano and Candice says she needs her friend and she tells Johnny to be nice. Tegan arrives and Johnny puts on his happy face. Johnny asks about pizzas and he says he is joking. They sit down at the dinner table and Candice says they should talk. We go to commercial.

– We are back with Thatch as Thatch Can School. He says it is time for film study. Today’s lesson is know your enemy. The subject is Damian Priest. He is a deadly striker. He leaves himself open to counter attacks. He sets the man up and takes time to pose. You take him down and put him in a half crab. Priest leaves his feet a lot and that is stupid. When your feet are on the ground, you are in control. He thinks life is a party. Life grinds you down until you give up, like in a match with him.

Velveteen Dream vs. Ashante Thee Adonis

Dream asks Adonis about his attire and Adonis pushes back. Dream goes to the mat and Adonis says if Dream can be cute, he can be cute too. Dream slaps Adonis and kicks him. Dream is warned by the referee. Adonis with clotheslines and a back body drop. Adonis with a drop kick and rollup for a near fall. Adonis with a kick and DDT. Adonis misses a super kick and the referee is knocked out of position and Dream with a thumb to the eye followed by a Death Valley Driver for the three count.

Winner: Velveteen Dream

After the match, Dream is attacked by KUSHIDA and he punches Dream and referees have to hold him back. KUSHIDA leaves the ring and then he punches Dream when Dream hangs over the middle rope. Dream grabs KUSHIDA but KUSHIDA pulls Dream shoulder first into the ring post. Dream is pulled into the ring post again. KUSHIDA puts Dream in a cross arm breaker in the ropes. KUSHIDA says something to Dream before leaving.

– We go to Tyler Breeze and Fandango. Fandango says it smells good. It smells like gold, baby oil, and success. Fandango drops the title belt. Tyler says they are the new champions after beating Emporium. Fandango says it took them five years but now they are the top of the division.
Fabian Aichner says Breezango are an embarassment to their sport. Fandango says they lack the sizzle. The only thing they had that was fashionable was their title belts. Marcel says next week, the NXT Universe will witness the shortest title reign in history. We go to commercial.

– We are back at the Gargano/Nox dinner. Johnny asks if he is making this weird. He says he can take a hint and he will finish his meal upstairs. Candice asks Tegan if she should start. She asks Tegan if she will fess up to her mistakes. Tegan points out that Candice betrayed her. Candice says she didn’t dress like a pizza delivery person to go to a friend’s house. Candice says there is a better way to handle things. Tegan says she does not agree with the Gargano Way. She says that Johnny has changed Candice. Candice says this is who she has always been. Candice says she always had Tegan’s back. Candice asks why would this be any different. Would I do you wrong? Candice asks what does Tegan have to lose.

Austin Theory vs Bronson Reed

Theory offers hand and Reed refuses. Theory with a side head lock and he tries for a shoulder tackle but he bounces off Reed. Reed with a side head lock. Reed holds on when Theory tries to send him off the ropes. Theory stomps on the foot and Reed knocks Theory down with a shoulder tackle. Theory misses a kick when Reed ducks down and Reed with a springboard elbow drop for a near fall. Theory rolls to the apron and Reed grabs Theory.and hip tosses Theory back into the ring. Reed with a reverse chin lock. Theory with a punch but Reed with a back elbow.

Theory rolls to the apron again. Theory with a forearm and a slingshot sunset flip but Reed does not go over. Reed drops down and gets a near fall. Theory rolls to the floor. Reed with a shoulder tackle to Theory on the floor. Reed throws Theory around. Reed rolls Theory back into the ring and he punches Theory. Reed with a shoulder in the corner followed by a hard Irish whip. Theory punches Reed but Reed with a knee. Reed with a hard Irish whip and Theory does a Michaels flip. Reed gets a near fall.

Reed with a waist lock and Theory tries to get back to his feet. Theory with elbows to escape the hold. Reed charges into the corner and Theory with a drop kick to the knee to send Reed into the turnbuckles. Theory with a kick to the midsection and he gets a near fall. Theory with a chin lock using Reed’s arm for more pressure. Theory with a drop kick for a near fall. Theory with punches to the head and a rear chin lock. Reed gets Theory on his back and Reed falls back to the mat.

Reed with forearms and punches. Reed with a running forearm and reverse atomic drop and elbow to the top of the head. Reed with a splash into the corner and a Death Valley Driver for a near fall. Reed goes for a suplex but Theory lands on his feet. Theory tries to get Reed up for a belly-to-back suplex but his back gives out and he can get a near fall. Reed runs into a boot and Theory with a kick and rolling blockbuster for a near fall. Theory sets for the ATL but Theory’s legs give out and Reed falls onto Theory. Reed with a back senton and frog splash for the three count.

Winner: Bronson Reed

– Adam Cole is in the back and McKenzie asks him what he is thinking. Adam says he is disappointed but the better man won tonight. She asks him about the handshake. Cole says he has nothing but respect for Finn Balor. Balor is good but he better hope that Cole doesn’t get another shot at the title because the result will be different. We go to commercial.

– Mercedes Martinez says when the lion wants to be king they don’t challenge the weaklings. They go after the strongest. You are a bad woman Rhea, but not as bad as me. I won’t stop until there is nothing left of you.

Roderick Strong vs. Killian Dain

Strong with some shots to the back of the head and he runs away. Dain gets Strong up but Roderick escapes and he chops Dain. Dain follows Strong to the floor when Roderick retreats. Strong puts Fish in the way and Strong uses that to go after Dain. Strong with punches and kicks in the corner. Dain tosses Strong into the corner and he punches Strong. Strong is sent into the turnbuckles and Dain follows with a clothesline. Strong floats over on an Irish whip and he htis a leg lariat that sends Dain to the floor. Dain with a uranage from the apron and Fish kicks the back of Dain’s leg.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Strong with a front face lock and he tries for an abdominal stretch but Dain with a hip toss and clotheslines. Dain with an elbow and splash into the corner followed by another splash. Dain with a running cross body for a near fall. Strong holds the ropes while Dain tries to pick him up. Dain gets Strong on his shoulders and Strong gets back to his feet. Strong kicks Dain and hits a round kick. Strong misses a knee and Dain gets Strong up and hits a back senton. Fish pulls Strong out of the ring to the apron. Dain knocks Fish off the apron and Strong with a jumping knee for the three count.

Winner: Roderick Strong

After the match, Strong and Fish attack Dain with kicks in the corner. Drake Maverick comes to the ring and he hits Fish and Strong with a steel pipe. Fish kicks Maverick. Fish and Strong work over Maverick and Dain gets the pipe. Strong and Fish leave the ring. Dain sees Maverick and Drake offers his hand and Dain with a forearm.

– We return to Candice’s house and they are about to toast and Candice adds that she is going to be the next NXT Women’s Champion. Candice says it will be one of them but Tegan had her chance and fell short. Candice takes a drink and throws the salad at Tegan. Tegan throws a drink in Candice’s face. Johnny comes down to separate them and Johnny calls Tegan a bad friend and a piece of garbage. Tegan pours spaghetti on Johnny and then Candice tries to throw something at Tegan but it misses and destroys the television. Tegan leaves and Candice follows as Johnny laments what happened to the television. Back to commercial.

– We are back and McKenzie asks Damian Priest about his match against Timothy Thatcher next week. Damian calls Thatcher ugly. He does not need to watch any film. He will punch and kick Thatcher in his face. The only thing he should expect is a Sweet Reckoning becaues he won’t lose his first title defense. He mentions that McKenzie is invited to his victory celebration.

– In addition to the two title matches, Shotzi Blackheart will face Io Shirai in a non-title match.

Mercedes Martinez vs. Rhea Ripley in a Steel Cage Match

Martinez brings a kendo stick and chairs into the cage. Rhea attacks Martinez from behind when Martinez tries to bring a table into the cage. Rhea kicks the door into Martinez. Rhea sends Martinez into the cage and Rhea gets the table.

The match starts and Martinez with a shoulder tackle. Martinez sends Rhea into the cage. Martinez chokes Rhea and then connects with forearms. Rhea with punches. Martinez with forearms across the chest. Rhea kicks Martinez before Mercedes can use the chair. Rhea sends Martinez into the cage. Rhea stretches Martinez in the ropes and kicks Mercedes into the cage. Martinez tries to send Rhea into the turnbuckles but Rhea stops short. Rhea with a boot to Martinez. Rhea with a forearm.

Rhea with more forearms to the back. Rhea with a kick to the midsection. Rhea grinds her boot into the spine and then she kicks Martinez in the back. Martinez escapes Riptide and hits a fisherman’s buster. Martinez gets the chair but Rhea kicks it away. Martinez punches Ripley when she goes to the turnbuckles. Martinez with a power slam onto the chair and Martinez gets a near fall. Martinez hits Ripley with the chair and then puts it on Rhea’s throat. Martinez gets the kendo stick and hits Rhea. Rhea punches back and gets the kendo stick but she swings and misses. Martinez with forearms.

Martinez gets Ripley on her shoulders but Ripley with elbows to escape. Ripley sends Martinez into the turnbuckles. Rhea puts Martinez in the tree of woe and Rhea with kicks to the chest. Thea goes to the turnbuckles and Martinez with forearms to the back. Martinez with a hanging German superplex. Martinez pulls herself up and Rhea throws the chair at Martinez’ head. Ripley with a drop kick that sends Martinez into the cage and Martinez’ head is hanging out of the cage. Rhea with forearms on the turnbuckles. Rhea sets for a superplex and Rhea hits it.

Rhea gets a near fall. Martinez with forearms and she hits a spinebuster. Martinez gets to her feet first but misses a kick. Ripley gets Martinez up and sends her face first into the mat. Ripley with a reverse cloverleaf but Martinez gets to the kendo stick and hits Rhea in the leg with it to get out of the hold. Rhea gets the kendo stick and hits Martinez and then Stone tries to climb the cage and Rhea hits Stone with the kendo stick and then hangs Stone over the top of the cage. Martinez hits Rhea in the back with the kendo stick. Martinez sends Riple into the top of the cage and Martinez hits a neck breaker off the top rope.

Martinez gets a near fall. Martinez gets the table and sets it up in front of the turnbuckles. Martinez with a chop and she puts Ripley on the turnbuckles. Martinez sets for a superplex through the table but Ripley gets out of the hold and she head butts Martinez a few times. Rhea with RipTide through the table for the three count.

Winner: Rhea Ripley

After the match, Ripley recovers and gets up from the table debris, then begins to celebrate as her music hits. We go to replays. Ripley climbs to the top rope and looks over the top of the cage, all smiles as the referee checks on Martinez on the mat. NXT Super Tuesday II goes off the air with Ripley standing on the top rope, looking over the top of the cage.
