WWE WrestleMania 36 Results (Night One) - April 4, 2020

The Kickoff pre-show for Night One of WWE WrestleMania 36 opens up from what appears to be WWE TV studios.

Corey Graves welcomes us. He’s joined by Peter Rosenberg. They talk about Rob Gronkowski hosting both nights, and then hype the big event. Graves goes over how fans can watch WrestleMania 36, besides the WWE Network.

– The hosts indicated the night one will feature Undertaker vs. AJ Styles in a Boneyard match, Becky Lynch vs. Shayna Baszler for the Raw Women’s Championship, Goldberg vs. Braun Strowman for the WWE Universal Championship, John Morrison vs. Kofi Kingston vs. Jimmy Uso in a three-way ladder match for the Smackdown Tag Titles, Sami Zayn vs. Daniel Bryan for the Intercontinental Championship, Kevin Owens vs. Seth Rollins, Elias vs. King Corbin, and The Kabuki Warriors vs. Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross for the WWE Women’s Tag Titles.

– A video package aired on the Seth Rollins vs. Kevin Owens match.

– After some advertising, the hosts spotlighted the WWE Women’s Tag Title match.

– The WWE Universal Championship match between Goldberg and Braun Strowman was discussed.

– A Miz and John Morrison music video aired. Back in the studio, Rosenberg said the video was horrifying. Graves said it was a gift to his eardrums.

– A WrestleMania Moment video focused on Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 30. The hosts discussed the Intercontinental Championship match.

Drew Gulak vs. Cesaro

We go to the empty WWE Performance Center as Michael Cole welcomes us. Drew Gulak is out first. Cesaro is out next by himself. The bell rings and they go at it.

They both start with big moves into the corner. Cesaro with a big backbreaker for a 2 count. Cesaro goes for the Neutralizer early on and continues to dominate by over-powering. Gulak blocks the Neutralizer again and applies the Crossface on the mat. Cesaro gets to the ropes and breaks the hold. Gulak dumps Cesaro over the top rope to the floor.

Gulak with a flying clothesline from the apron to the floor. Cesaro fights back and rolls Gulak in the ring. Cesaro clutches his arm and comes back in but Gulak drops the arm over the rope. Gulak sends Cesaro back to the floor. They go at it on the floor again. Gulak works on the arm and sends Cesaro shoulder-first into the steel steps, and again. Gulak brings Cesaro back in.

Gulak goes to the top but Cesaro rocks him in mid-air with a big uppercut. Cesaro covers for a 2 count. Gulak goes right into a 2 count of his own. Gulak grounds Cesaro now, working on the arm. More back and forth now. Cesaro blocks a Dragon Sleeper and slams Gulak. Cesaro follows up with a big boot to the face. Cesaro goes for the Neutralizer again but it’s blocked. Gulak almost gets pushed into the referee. Cesaro drops Gulak with an uppercut as he turns around. Cesaro puts Gulak on his shoulders for an airplane spin. Cesaro drops Gulak and covers for the pin to win.

Winner: Cesaro

– After some advertising, the hosts ran through the night two lineup.

– We go to Kayla Braxton with Baron Corbin. Kayla mentions that Elias’ condition for tonight is an issue and we see why. Baron chuckles and asks if there are any questions. Baron is asked if he has any remorse. Baron says he should have thrown a road case onto Elias. Baron says he is a man of tradition. He ended Kurt Angle’s career last year and he will take his victory tonight by forfeit. Baron says he even has a song and he pulls out a harmonica.

– Corey says he agrees with Corbin that he will end what is left of Elias’ career.

– We take a look back at last year’s main event.

– They talk about the Raw Women’s Title Match and we go to commercial.

– Graves sends us to WWE Backstage host Renee Young and her co-hosts, WWE Hall of Famers Booker T and Mark Henry. They’re all live with each other via Skype. They discuss Shayna Baszler vs. Becky Lynch. Booker goes with Becky and Henry picks Baszler to win. We go back to the set and Graves sends us to another break. Back from the break and we get more discussion from Graves and Rosenberg. They go over tonight’s matches one more time. Graves plugs the WWE Network and other platforms to order WrestleMania 36 on. That’s it for the Night One Kickoff.

WrestleMania 36 Opener:

We get a video package of various singers performing “America The Beautiful” over the years, including Aretha Franklin, Boyz II Men, Gladys Knight, Ray Charles, the Boys Choir of Harlem, Willie Nelson, and others. We cut to a pirate-themed opening video package for WrestleMania 36, narrated by a Jack Sparrow-like character. There’s lots of comedy in this 11 minutes long package!

We’re live on tape from the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. WrestleMania 36 host Rob Gronkowski welcomes us and talks about why WWE picked him to host. He knows how to start a party and end it two days later. He asks everyone to pop open a beverage, forget about everything else in the world, and enjoy WrestleMania. Gronk brings Mojo Rawley over and they get hyped up for tonight’s show.

WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles Match: Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross vs. Asuka and Kairi Sane

We go to the ring and out first comes Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross. Michael Cole welcomes us and he’s joined by 2020 WWE Hall of Famer JBL. WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Asuka and Kairi Sane are out next.

Asuka and Alexa start things off and Asuka avoids Alexa and mocks her. Kairi tags in and Kairi pushes Alexa a few times. Kairi pushes Alexa down and Kairi says something to Alexa and Alexa with a slap. Alexa plays with Kairi’s hair and sends her to the mat. Asuka and Alexa argue but Alexa with a double knee drop before tagging Nikki in. Nikki with a drop kick and a sleeper. Asuka tags in and she kicks Nikki. Asuka tells the referee she knows the rules . Asuka with a snap mare and kick to the back. Nikki with forearms. Alexa tags in and Nikki sends Asuka to the floor. Nikki with forearms to Kairi on the apron. Alexa with a basball slide to knock Kairi off the apron.

Alexa with a cannonball off the apron onto Alexa. Kairi checks on Asuka and Nikki with a cross body onto Kairi. Alexa sends Asuka back into the ring and gets a near fall. Nikki tags in and she goes up top and hits a double sledge to the arm. Asuka with a forearm and Kairi tags in and she kicks Nikki in the back. Nikki sends Kairi to the floor and Nikki goes for a drop kick through the ropes but Kairi blocks it and pulls her to the floor. Kairi with a shot to Nikki but Alexa with a drop kick through the ropes to Asuka. Asuka sends Alexa into the ring post and Kair is sent to the ringside barrier but Kairi with a head scissors. Asuka with a round kick to Nikki.

Asuka and Nikki get back into the ring and Asuka with a kick to the back. Asuka taunts Alexa before kicking Nikki. Nikki is sent into the turnbuckles and Kairi tags bck in. Asuka with a round kick followed by a kick from Kairi. Asuka with a bulldog and Kairi with a drop kick. Kairi gets a near fall and then Kairi follows with forearms. Kairi gets Nikki up but Nikki with a sunset flip for a near fall. Nikki kicks Kairi away and Alexa tags in and she hits a series of clotheslines. Alexa with a punch and drop kick.

Alexa misses a splash into the corner when Kairi moves. Alexa goes after Kairi but Asuka stops her. Alexa is put in the turnbuckles and Kairi with a double stomp for a near fall while Asuka does the EZPZ Dance. Kairi chokes Alexa in the corner but Alexa with kicks to the arm. Kairi with a Sliding D into the corner for a near fall. Asuka tags in and she kicks Alexa while Kairi restrains Alexa by the hair. Asuka chokes Alexa with her boot. Asuka with an arm bar. Alexa with pucnhes but Asuka sends Alexa back to the mat.

Sane drops Alexa on the middle rope when the referee was not looking. Asuka with a hip attack into the corner but Alexa avoids a bulldog. Asuka with a pop up knee for a near fall. Asuka sends Alexa into the turnbuckles and Alexa gets her knees up when Asuka goes for a hip attack. Alexa with a punch after Asuka misses a round kick. Asuka with a kick and Alexa is down. Kairi and Nikki tag in and Nikki with forearms. Nikki with a splash into the corner followed by a bulldog. Nikki goes up top and hits a cross body for a near fall. Kairi with a rake of the eyes. Kairi is sent to the apron and Nikki sets for a suplex but Asuka had made the tag and she kicks Nikki. Nikki with a swining suplex but Kairi with an elbow drop to break up the cover.

Nikki with a waist lock and an O’Connor Roll but Asuka with the Asuka Lock. Alexa with Twisted Bliss to break up the submission. Sane with a spear to Bliss. Sane makes the tag and Asuka with a Codebreaker. Sane goes up top but Nikki with a forearm to stop Sane. Sane with forearms to Nikki. Asuka makes the tag and Asuka goes for a sunset flip power bomb and Nikki holds on. Sane with a forearm off the turnbuckles and Asuka with a power bomb for a near fall.

Sane knocks Bliss off the turnbuckles. Asuka goes into the ring post when Cross moves. Sane misses a backfist and Nikki with a swinging neck breaker. Alexa tags in and hits Twisted Bliss for the three count.

Winners: Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross (new champions)

Backstage:

Kayla Braxton is in the back with Sami Zayn, Cesaro, and Shinsuke Nakamura. Kayla asks Sami about having to defend his title against Daniel Bryan. Sami asks if it is inevitable. Sami says everything thought it was a foregone conclusion that Braun Strowman would run through them, but who is the Intercontinental Champion. Everyone wants to see Daniel Bryan get his hands on him. Just because he has this match, it does not mean that Daniel will put his hands on him. Sami says he will do something that very few men have done. He will walk into Wrestlemania as Intercontinental Champion and he will walk out Intercontinental Champion.

– We see Shayna Baszler in the back getting ready for her match against Becky Lynch.

Elias vs. King Baron Corbin

We go to the ring and out comes King Baron Corbin. Corbin says he’s here but Elias is nowhere to be found. He shows us why – a replay of when he knocked Elias from the perch two weeks ago on SmackDown. Corbin says that felt good and so will his second win at WrestleMania. He demands the referee count the forfeit and raise his arm in victory. Before the count can begin, we hear the familiar sound of Elias’ guitar. Elias comes walking down the ramp with his guitar and Corbin isn’t happy.

Corbin charges the ramp and Elias ducks the clothesline. Elias shatters the guitar over Elias on the ramp. Elias works Corbin over and sends him into the ring post. Elias enters the ring with Corbin. She backs Elias off and checks on Corbin. Corbin gets up and the bell rings.

Elias with a running forearm into the corner followed by a kick. Elias with a back elbow for a near fall. Elias with a chop and forearm. Elias with a neck breaker for a near fall. Corbin tries to hot shot Elias but Elias bounces off the ropes and goes to the floor. Corbin sends Elias shoulder first into the ring post and he gets a near fall. Corbin with an Irish whip and he slides around the ring post and hits a clothesline for a near fall. Corbin with a chin lock and an elbow to the collarbone. Corbin takes time to suggest how the commentary should be for the match and that allows Elias to get in a few punches.

Corbin sends Elias shoulder first into the ring post. Corbin gets a near fall. Corbin argues with the referee. Corbin with more elbows to the collarbone. Corbin thinks about sending Elias into the ring post again but Elias reverses and Corbin is sent shoulder first into the ring post. Elias with a clothesline but Corbin with an Irish whip. Elias tries to float over and Corbin catches Elias. Elias with a mule kick. Elias with kicks and punches in the corner. Elias with boots in the corner as the referee warns Elias.

Elias with another kick and then she hits a swinging inverted DDT for a near fall. Elias goes up top for the elbow drop but he is able to roll through when he sees Corbin move. Corbin with Deep Six for a near fall. Corbin slides around the ring post again but he misses the clothesline and Elias with a jumping knee for a near fall. Corbin with a punch and then he uses the ropes for extra leverage and the referee stops the count. Corbin argues with the referee and Elias with a rollup with a handful of tights for the three count.

Winner: Elias

After the match, Elias makes his exit as his music hits. Corbin throws a fit in the ring. We go to replays.

Becky Lynch versus Shayna Baszler is next and we get a video package.

RAW Women’s Title Match: Shayna Baszler vs. Becky Lynch

We see her custom 18-wheeler pull up to the WWE Performance Center as RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch hops out and walks into the building. We go back to the arena and Shayna Baszler makes her way to the ring. Lynch makes her way to the ring next as Mike Rome does the formal introductions.

Becky and Shayna exchange punches and Shayna kicks Becky in the leg and goes for the Kirifuta Clutch but Becky goes to the floor and Shayna continues to kick Becky in the leg. Shayna sends Becky into the apron and Shayna breaks the count. Becky with a suplex on the floor. Becky sends Shayna into the annoucne table and then she breaks the referee’s count. Becky sends Shayna into the ring steps. Becky goes up top and hits a missile drop kick. Becky with a running forearm into the corner followed by kicks. Becky with more forearms and a back heel kick in the corner. Shayna with back elbows but Becky with an elbow and she tries for a springboard kick but Baszler blocks it and connects with a knee. Baszler gets Becky up but Becky escapes and tries for DisArmHer. Becky counters a Kirifuta Clutch attempt with a rollup for a near fall. Baszler with a spinebuster and then she hits a butterfly gourdbuster for a near fall.

Shayna misses a running knee and Becky goes for DisArmHer but Becky is sent to the apron. Becky with a kick and she brings Shayna to the apron. Shayna with a kick but Becky with forearms and punches. They go back and forth with forearms until Shayna gets the advantage. Shayna with a knee but Becky with a uranage onto the apron. Becky gets a near fall. Becky goes to the turnbuckles but Shayna with a kick and arm drag. Baszler with a butterfly bomb into a cross arm breaker. Becky with a rollup for a near fall. Shayna with DisArmHer. Becky escapes and Shayna with a knee to the head for a near fall.

Becky drops Shayna on the top rope and then Becky with DisArmHer in the ropes. Shayna with a Kirifuta Clutch in the ropes and she releases the hold right before the referee gets to five. Shayna goes after Becky on the floor. Shayna with kicks to Becky. Shayna picks up Becky and swings her into the announce table a few times. Shayna sends Becky back into the ring. Becky goes for DisArmHer but Shayna escapes and Shayna with the Kirifuta Clutch and Shayna keeps Becky from getting to the ropes. Becky rolls up and gets the three count.

Winner: Becky Lynch

After the match, Becky’s music hits as she stands tall with the title. Baszler is surprised at the pin out of nowhere. We go to replays. Baszler looks on at Becky as she celebrates on the turnbackle showing her belt to the crowd… LOL.

Intercontinental Championship Match – Sami Zayn vs. Daniel Bryan

Back from a break and out comes Daniel Bryan with Drew Gulak. We see Mojo Rawley and Rob Gronkowski getting hype up on the perch. WWE Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn is out next with Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura as Greg Hamilton does the introductions.

Sami gets some advise from Cesaro and Nakamura. Zayn goes to the floor and says that Bryan is crowding him. Zayn returns to the ring and then goes to the floor. Zayn gets back into the ring but he goes back to the floor when Bryan moves to him. Bryan chases Zayn on the floor and Cesaro gets in the way. Zayn gets in the ring and Bryan goes back in but they go back to the floor. Nakamura blocks Bryan’s path to Zayn. Zayn returns to the ring. Zayn gets back to the floor and Zayn crawls away and Nakamura and Cesaro block Bryan’s path. Gulak with a cross body off the apron onto Nakamura and Cesaro. Gulak sends Cesaro and Nakamura over the ringside barrier. Zayn wants to attack Gulak but Gulak sees him.

Bryan tells Gulak to let him go. Zayn starts to walk up the ramp but Bryan attacks Zayn from behind and punches him. Bryan sends Sami back into the ring. Bryan with a single leg take down and then he punches Zayn while Sami begs for mercy. Bryan with knees and Zayn tries to get out of the ring. Bryan stops Zayn and Bryan with a kick to the hamstring and back. Bryan with punches to Zayn. Zayn rolls to the floor and Bryan with a suicide dive. Bryan with kicks to the chest and they return to the ring. Bryan goes up top and hits a missile drop kick. Bryan pulls Sami into the middle of the ring and connects with crossfaces. Bryan sends Sami into the turnbuckles and Bryan slaps Zayn.

Bryan with kicks to the chest. Bryan with a running drop kick. Sami wants to talk to Bryan but Bryan with knees to the chest. Sami goes to the apron but Bryan brings him back in but Sami with an elbow and punches. Sami with a clothesline. Sami slaps Bryan and then he connects with a forearm and chops. Sami with forearms and Bryan with a flying clothesline. Bryan with kicks to the chest. Bryan with boots to the chest. Gulak tells Bryan it is time to put him away but Cesaro and Nakamura attack Gulak. Bryan with a suicide dive onto Cesaro and Nakamura.

Bryan goes up top and Sami with a boot for the three count.

Winner: Sami Zayn

After the bell, Sami briefly celebrates with Nakamura and Cesaro as we go to another break.

Smackdown Tag Team Championship Ladder Match – John Morrison vs. Jimmy Uso vs. Kofi Kingston

We go to the ring and out first comes Kofi Kingston of The New Day and Jimmy Uso of The Usos. We see ladders all over the Performance Center. SmackDown Tag Team Champion John Morrison is out next.

Jimmy misses a super kick and Morrison misses a kick. Kofi misses a running double stomp. All three men go to the floor and pick out their ladders. All three set them up in the ring. Jimmy punches Morrison and Kofi grabs the belt first. Jimmy and Kofi stop Morrison and then Morrison kicks Jimmy’s ladder down and Jimmy holds his knee. Kofi head butts Morrison. Jimmy pulls Morrison off. Kofi with a cross body onto Jimmy off the ladder. Morrison climbs the ladder and Kofi stops him. Morrison with a snap mare and Morrison with a running knee.

Morrison kicks Jimmy and punches him. Morrison with a kick Kofi with a forearm to Morrison and Morrison sets for a swinging neck breaker but Kofi escapes. Morrison escapes SOS. Jimmy climbs the ladder and so does Kofi. Kofi with punches and then he head butts Jimmy off the ladder. Kofi has one of the belts but Morrison stops Kofi. Morrison with punches and Kofi falls off the ladder. Morrison tries to get under the belts and Jimmy grabs Morrison’s leg and pulls him down the ladder. Jimmy punches Morrison.

Morrison with punches to Jimmy followed by kicks. Jimmy with a chop and Kofi slingshots through the ladder and Morrison and Jimmy catch Kofi and send him to the floor. Jimmy chops Morrison and Morrison is Irish whipped but he slides under the ladder. Morrison is trapped in the ladder and Morrison with a thumb to the eyes. Morrison pushes the ladder into Jimmy. Morrison hits Jimmy in the knee with the ladder. Jimmy with a chop to Morrison followed by a punch. Jimmy puts Morrison on the turnbuckles over a ladder put in the ropes. Jimmy slams Morrison’s head into the ladder. Jimmy goes for a superplex off the ladder but Morrison with a leg sweep and Jimmy falls onto the ladder. Morrison goes to the ring post and he hits a a twisting splash onto Jimmy on the ladder.

Morrison kicks Jimmy and sets up the ladder under the belts. Morrison starts to climb the ladder but Kofi with a springboard into a rana off the ladder. Kofi starts to limp but he sets up the ladder in the center of the ring. Kofi kicks Jimmy and Jimmy with an uppercut. Kofi sends Jimmy to the apron and Kofi with a punch. Koffi with a plancha onto Morrison. Kofi sends a ladder into Jimmy as Jimmy walks the ringside barrier. Kofi kicks Jimmy. Kofi tries to put a ladder across the apron and ringside barrier. Kofi slams Jimmy’s head into the ladder and he puts Jimmy on the ladder. Kofi crotches Morrison on the turnbuckles and Kofi goes up top as well as Morrison. Morrison walks the top rope and Morrison hits a Spansh Fly. JImmy with a splash onto Morrison.

Kofi stops Jimmy from climbing the ladder for a moment but Jimmy makes his way up the ladder. Jimmy punches Kofi to knock him off the ladder. Jimmy climbs the ladder and Kofi climbs inside the ladder. Kofi pulls Jimmy into the rungs of the ladder to knock him to the mat. Kofi gets to the outside of the ladder and he has the belts but Morrison stops him. Morrison punches Kofi and Kofi punches Morrison. Kofi with a head butt and Kofi with a double stomp to Morrison.

Jimmy takes Morrison down on the floor. Jimmy puts a ladder on the ropes and connects it to the ladder in the center of the ring. Kofi gets on the ladder and comes off into a super kick. Jimmy sends Kofi face first into the ladder. Morrison flips over the ladder and then comes off the ladder into a super kick from Jimmy. Jimmy sets up another ladder with Morrison on the ladder parallel to the mat. Morrison gets up and he pushes Jimmy off the ladder onto the floor. Morrison throws a ladder to the floor. Morrison looks up at the title belts and he starts to climb the ladder. Kofi is in the ring and he punches Morrison as MOrrison grabs the title belts. Kofi with punches and a head butt to stop Morrison.

Morrison kicks Kofi in the leg and Jimmy sets up a ladder next to Morrison and Kofi. Jimmy punches Kofi and head butts Morrison. Kofi punches Jimmy and all three have the belts in their hands. Jimmy takes the belts off the hook and they argue over who has won. Jimmy and Kofi head butt Morrison off the ladder. Morrison is on the ladder and the belts are on the ground while Kofi and Jimmy hold the hook. Morrison falls to the mat and is declared the winner.

Winner: John Morrison

After the bell, Kofi and Uso argue some up top as they’re still holding the title holder. We go to replays that show how Morrison fell with the titles. Morrison’s music hits as he laughs while down on the mat. Uso and Kofi aren’t happy.

– Time for a video package for Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens.

Kevin Owens vs. Seth Rollins

Tom and Byron are back on commentary for this match. The Monday Night Messiah is out first and he’s by himself. Kevin Owens makes his way out next.

Rollins backs away from Owens and goes into the ropes. Rollins with some jabs and he goes to the floor. Owens follows and he punches Rollins and sends him into the ringside barrier. Rollins with a knee to the midsection. Rollins misses The Stomp and Owens with a punch and chop. Owens with punches to Rollins. Rollins with a kick but Owens with a clothesline and back senton. Owens with a second back senton and then Rollins rolls to the floor when he sees Owens set for a cannonball. Owens chops Rollins on the floor and Rollins is sent into the ringside barrier. Owens sends Rollins into the ringside barrier again. Owens breaks the referee’s count. Owens with a kick. Rollins rolls to the apron and Owens grabs Rollins and sets for a piledriver on the apron but Rollins counters with a back body drop onto the apron.

Rollins sets for a Falcon Arrow onto the apron and hits it. Rollins with a suicide dive. Rollins with another suicide dive that sends Owens into the ringside barrier. Owens with a kick to Rollins but Rollins with slingblade. Seth presents his sermon to Owens while Owens tries to fight back. Rollins with a kick and he misses The Stomp. Rollins misses again. Owens with a kick and DDT. Rollins misses a splash into the corner and Owens with a super kick and cannonball. Owens goes up top and he hits a swanton for a near fall.

Owens with a punch and he misses the pop up power bomb. Rollins has a super kick blocked. Rollins blocks the stunner. Rollins with an enzuigiri and Owens bounces off the ropes and hits a clothesline. Owens goes to the turnbuckles and he picks up Rollins for a superplex but Rollins blocks it. Owens with punches and Rollins blocks it again. Rollins with a rake of the eyes and then he goes for a sunset flip into a buckle bomb and hits it. Rollins with a super kick. Rollins with a second super kick. Owens with a pop up power bomb for a near fall. Rollins tries to get away form Owens.

Rollins gets the ring bell and hits Owens in the head. The referee calls for the bell.

Winner by DQ: Kevin Owens

After the match, Owens gets on the mic and he says that Rollins doesn’t get to end it like that. You say you are a god, but those were the actions of a bitch. He tells Seth to get back in here and finish this as a No Disqualification Match. Seth accepts.

No Disqualification Match – Kevin Owens vs. Seth Rollins

Rollins with a running knee and he sends Owens to the floor. Rollins sends Owens into the ringside barrier. Rollins sends Owens into the ringside barrier. Seth grabs the ring steps and hits Owens in the head with them. Rollins kicks Owens in the head and Rollins gets a chair and hits Owens with it. Rollins hits Owens in the back with the chair.

Rollins pulls the cover off the announce table. Owens hits Rollins with the ring bell a few times. Owens climbs the Wrestlmenia sign and he asks Seth how about this for a Wrestlemania moment. Owens with a back senton onto Rollins through the table. Owens gets up first while Rollins speaks in tongues. Owens sends Rollins back into the ring. Owens picks up Rollins and Seth says it doesn’t have to be like this. Owens with a kick and stunner for the three count.

After the match, Owens gets back to his feet as his music hits. We go to replays. Owens hobbles over to the ropes to look down at Rollins on the floor. Owens backs up to the middle of the ring and salutes as we go to a break.

– We return to Mojo and Rob on the balcony and R Truth shows up with the 24/7 Title. Truth introduces himself to Rob Gronkowski. He needs to keep his head on a swivel. He can’t go anywhere. He asks if he can chill for a while. Rob with a forearm and he covers Truth but Mojo pulls him off and gets the three count.

Backstage:

Charly Caruso is in the back and Paul Heyman interrupts. Charly tells Paul that he scared her but Paul says that Drew is the one who should be scared. He is 24 hours away from being exposed as a pretender. Paul says he thrives in a business that thrives on embellishing. He has failed to convey how truly unique Brock Lesnar is. He is not one amongst us. He is a super being. He is not one of our species. There is not a thing that Drew McIntyre can do be go in there dreaming and walk out beaten, vicitimized, and conquered by the greatest champion in WWE history… Brock Lesnar

WWE Univeral Title Match – Goldberg vs. Braun Strowman

We go back to the ring and out first comes Braun Strowman. WWE Universal Champion Bill Goldberg is out next as the smoke hits for his entrance. The WWE Hall of Famer marches to the ring as Braun stares him down. We get formal ring introductions from Hamilton.

Braun has something to say to Bill and Goldberg with a kick and Irish whip. Goldberg stops short in the corner. Goldberg escapes a power slam attempt and Goldberg with a spear followed by a second one. Goldberg with a third spear for a near fall. Goldberg with a fourth spear. Goldberg goes for the Jackhammer but Strowman counters with a power slam and a second one. Strowman with a third power slam. Strowman goes for another one and he hits it and gets the three count.

Winner and NEW Universal Champion: Braun Strowman

– After the quick match, Strowman stands tall and yells out while celebrating. We get replays and come back to Braun standing tall.

– The Boneyard Match is next and we get a video package?

Boneyard Match – Undertaker vs. AJ Styles

We are in some graveyard and AJ Styles comes in a coffin inside a hearse while Undertaker arrives on his motorcyle.

AJ says he didn’t think Taker would show up and he asks if Michelle knows he is out this late. AJ says he has dug Taker’s grave but Taker says AJ dug his own grave.

Taker punches AJ a few times and he tells AJ to get up. AJ runs away from Taker and Taker calls him Allen. Taker with a punch. Taker sends AJ into the top of the coffin and then into the coffin a few more times. Taker picks something up and he tries to hit AJ with it against the hearse but Taker cuts his arm when he misses. AJ with punches but Taker sends AJ into the front window of the hearse. AJ gets on top of the hearse and Taker follows him. AJ with a punch and Taker punches back. Taker punches AJ and he tells AJ never to talk about his wife again.

AJ falls off the roof of the hearse. Taker says he has a lot of more. AJ tries to run away. AJ kicks Taker low and then punches Taker. AJ picks up Taker and carries him to the grave. AJ with punches and Taker staggers but stays on his feet. Taker with a punch. Taker punches Aj and AJ falls into the grave. Taker asks AJ how does it feel down there.

Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson says they are just getting started. Taker walks toward Luke and Karl and a light comes on in a barn and many hooded people show up. Taker says let’s do it and he takes care of them because they attack one at a time. Anderson and Gallows work over Taker and they kick and punch him. Taker with elbows and punches to Gallows and Anderson. Taker kicks Gallows and he picks up a shovel handle and hits Anderson and Gallows wih it.

AJ hits Taker from behind with a gravestone. AJ asks if Taker has what it takes. AJ with a punch. AJ with a kick and more punches. AJ yells at Taker because he broke his finger. AJ tells Taker to stay down. AJ tells Taker to come on and just give up. He tells Taker to retire alreay and let him bury Taker. AJ begs Taker to get up and AJ with a spear through the wall.

AJ tells Taker he just doesn’t have it any more. AJ says Taker isn’t a phenom any more and Taker shows AJ who he thinks is number one. AJ says he thought Taker was an American Badass, but all he is is a broken down old bitch. AJ grabs a shovel and he says he is doing the world a favor.

He says he is going to bury Taker right here, right now. AJ hits Taker in the back with the shovel and is breaks in half. Taker falls into the grave and he pours the dirt onto Taker. AJ gets on the tractor and gets ready to pour the dirt into the grave.

A light shows up behind AJ and it is Taker standing behind him. Taker grabs AJ and punches him. Taker punches AJ and AJ starts to run away. Taker tells AJ he can’t run away. AJ climbs a ladder onto the barn. Taker says you can run, but you can’t hide. Taker climbs the ladder. AJ backs up and Taker summons a great light and fire appears behind AJ. AJ runs into a boot and then Taker punches Gallows and Anderson. Taker with more punches. Taker throws Gallows off the roof and then Taker with a tombstone to Anderson on the roof.

Taker tells AJ it is just them now. AJ with a punch and he says he had Taker dead and buried. Taker grabs AJ by the throat and AJ begs for mercy but Taker says this is what you asked for and AJ is choke slammed off the roof.

Taker climbs down the ladder and he walks over to AJ. Taker asks AJ if he still wants to talk. He asks AJ if he remembers his wife’s name. He asks AJ to tell him how old he is and if this will hurt his legacy. Taker says we aren’t done yet. We are just getting started. Taker drags AJ and picks him up. Taker picks up AJ and he says AJ is a lot tougher than he gave him credit for. AJ says he is sorry and Taker asks what is AJ sorry for.

Taker grabs AJ by the throat and AJ says he is sorry. Taker says it was a hell of a fight. Taker says AJ fought his ass off, so does AJ think he is going to bury him? Taker hugs AJ and he says a lot of people didn’t give him that fight. Taker walks away and then kicks AJ into the grave. Taker gets in the tractor and he pours the dirt on AJ.

Winner: Undertaker

After the match, Taker gets off the tractor and reveals the tombstone for AJ Styles and AJ’s hand is coming out of the grave. Taker puts his bandana back on and gets on his motorcycle. He cranks it back up and raises his fist in the air, which makes flames jump around the barn as his purple logo appears on the front of the barn. Metallica’s “Now That We’re Dead” starts back up as Taker speeds out of the cemetery. Night One of WrestleMania 36 goes off the air.
