MLW has reportedly claimed that WWE is tampering with MLW talent contracts. According to PWInsider, MLW’s attorneys engaged with WWE’s attorneys over the issue this week.
It is reported that this might not have anything to do with Davey Boy Smith Jr’s recent appearance on WWE The Bump. Apparently, WWE is tampering with contracts for a few stars. According to talent contracts, talent is forbidden to work with WWE. It’s considered a breach of contract to have any direct communication with the company.
When asked if this was in relation to Davey Boy Smith Jr (Harry Smith) appearing this past Wednesday on WWE’s The Bump online series, we were told it was not in regard to Smith’s appearance but regarding “multiple talents.”
MLW contracts explicitly say that their contracted stars can’t work for WWE. At the time of MJF and Jimmy Havoc’s signings there was no AEW so that loophole allowed those stars to work for both promotions.
Major League Wrestling claims they have plenty of evidence to prove WWE’s contract tampering.
One MLW source claimed that the promotion has an “abundance” of evidence should the matter need to go to court, but hoped that would not happen.
