AEW Dynamite Results (1/8) - Southaven, MS

As part of the tribute to Memphis Wrestling, Dave Brown joins Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone, and Excalibur at commentary to call a match.

Hangman Page and Kenny Omega vs. Private Party

Hangman Page makes his way down the ramp and enters the ring as his music blares in the Lander’s Center Arena. Out next is Kenny Omega making his way down the ramp and entering the ring to join tag team partner Kenny Omega. Out next is Private Party (Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen) as they make their way down the ramp and enter the ring as a clip from last week’s episode is shown from backstage. Page fist bumps Omega as the referee signals for the bell to ring beginning the first match of the night!

After some back and forth action early on, Page kicks out at the first count, quickly making his way back to his feet. Kassidy tags in Quen as both men of Private Party team up on Page. Quen tags Kassidy once again and again they get the upperhand until Page makes his way to his corner where he tags in Omega who gets his first legal entrance into the match up tonight.

Omega gets a few good hits in on Kassidy before tagging Page back in. Page and Omega throw Kassidy at the ropes, Kassidy gets a low bridge off the ropes, knocking Page out of the ring. Kassidy flips Omega from the outside of the ropes to the inside head first. Omega tags Page in once again. Quen is tagged in and flips over the ropes onto Page, followed by running across the ring and flipping over the ropes onto Omega, then once again flipping over the ropes onto Page, landing on his feet.

Quen back in the ring with a 150 Splash on Hangman. Page almost gets the three count pin, Omega jumps in and breaks up the pin just in time. Quen goes for a Cross Body onto Hangman to no avail. Omega tags in, throwing Hangman into both members of Private Party, followed by a German Suplex on Kassidy. Then a pin attempt, Kassidy kicks out at two.

Omega looking angry at the last minute kick out, the crowd starts chanting, “Kenny! Kenny!” as he slams off the ropes and gets a Snap Dragon Suplex on Kassidy. Kassidy counters with the Silly String and pin attempt, Omega kicks out with less than a second to spare. Now Kassidy looks stunned as he makes his way back to his feet and tags in Quen who gets to the top turnbuckle. Quen with a high risk, no reward move off the top.

Omega gets the Gin and Juice from both members of Private Party and Kassidy goes for the pin, Page breaks up the count just in time, once again. Omega accidentally throws Quen into Page. Quen takes advantage of the moment and gets a high knee on Omega. Omega gets Quen up on his shoulders and hits his move for the pin and win.

Winner: Hangman Adam Page & Kenny Omega

After the match, PAC appears on the big screen choking Michael Nakazawa out and again demands his one-on-one rematch with Omega. Page urges Omega to go help his friend but Page stays at ringside and takes pictures with fans and drinks with them instead of helping.

Tony Schiavone, Jim Ross, and Excalibur speak about tonight’s line up. Ross speaks on Moxley’s decision being announced tonight about the Inner Circle. Next he announces the match up between Best Friends & Orange Kassidy who are set to take on Jurassic Express and Luchasaurus.

Brandi Rhodes joins commentary for the next match. Hikaru Shida and Britt Baker are sitting ringside.

AEW Women’s World Championship: Riho (c) vs. Kris Statlander

Out first is Kris Statlander as she makes her way to the top of the ramp, stopping to pose before making her way down the ramp and enters the ring covered with designed face paint. Out next is Riho as her music sounds in the arena, making her way down the ramp with her normal huge smile and her championship belt around her waist. The bell rings and the match begins.

Britt Baker and Hikaru Shida are shown watching at ringside.

Riho kicks off the match with a series of forearms but eats a Shoulder Block from Statlander for a nearfall. Riho bridges out of it and connects with a dropkick. Riho tries to put Statlander in a side headlock but she powers out and takes her down again. Statlander goes for a Headstand Leg Drop but Riho moves and hits a Diving Rana off the top.

Statlander falls into the ropes and Riho goes for a 619 but Statlander blocks it and transitions into a TKO attempt, but Riho counters with an armdrag. Riho hits the ropes but walks right into a Backbreaker from Statlande for a nearfall.

Riho hits a Ghetto Stomp but Statlander comes back with an Electric Chair Drop and Headstand Leg Drop for a nearfall.

Statlander goes up top and attempts a Diving Moonsault but Riho moves and hits a Bridging Northern Light Suplex for a close nearfall. Riho goes to the top but eats a big right hand from Statlander. Statlander connects with a big Delayed Superplex.

Statlander sells it like she hurt her head on the way down and The Nightmare Collective is shown coming down to the ring. Riho and Statlander exchange strikes with Statlaner getting the better of the exchange with a Big Boot.

Statlander goes for a Michinoku Driver but Riho blocks it and sets up for a high spot. The Nightmare Collective trips Riho up as the referee checked on Statlander. They throw Riho into the guardrail but then Statlander hits a Tope Suicida onto both members!

Brandi Rhodes leaves commentary and gets in Statlander’s face and Statlander dares her to hit her. A bald man appears from under the ring and stops Statlander from hitting Brandi. Awesome Kong then kills Statlander with a clothesline. Excalibur says this man is a Japanese Death Match “legend” called Luther.

Evidently the referee was on the outside checking on Riho through this all because he is a dumbass. Riho dives off the top with a Plancha onto Luther on the outside! Riho goes back up and attempts a Ghetto Stomp but Statlander moves and goes for a clothesline. Riho counters with a rollup for a nearfall.

Statlander comes back with a Gorilla Press attempt but Riho counters into a Crucifix Bomb for a nearfall! Riho goes for a Flying Knee but Statlander ducks and hits a Lariat followed by the Michinoku Driver! 1…2…NO Riho kicks out!

Statlander attempts a Tombstone but Kong trips her legs while Brandi distracts the referee and Riho rolls Statlander up for the pin.

Winner: Riho

After the match, ong with a big clothesline on Statlander. Riho then gets involved to get Kong off, but Mel gets in the ring and drops the champ. Shida then jumps the barricade to help out Statlander and Riho. Baker just sits back down. Big Swole and Sonny Kiss also come out to help out.

A vignette highlighting the tandem of Kip Sabian and Penelope Ford is shown.

Sammy Guevara vs. Christopher Daniels

Chain wrestling starts things off but they quickly speed things up and connect with armdrags and dropkicks on each other. Guevara backs Daniels into the corner and knees him in the gut to take control.

Daniels comes back with a series of armdrags followed by a Hip Toss and a Scoop Slam as he gains control now. Daniels whips Guevara in the corner but Guevara pulls the referee in front of him before Daniels can charge at him. Guevara then lays Daniels out and connects with a Missile Dropkick for the first nearfall of the match.

Guevara hits a Samoan Drop for another nearfall and then chokes Daniels in the ropes. Guevara tauns the crowd by doing the Fargo Strut and puts Daniels in a headlock. Guevara goes up top and attempts a 450-Splash but Daniels moves out of the way and connects with an Exploder Suplex.

Daniels hits a backdrop and then a dropkick followed by a Blue Thunder Bomb for a nearfall. Daniels attempts the Angel’s Wings but Guevara counters and rolls through into a Flying Knee followed by a Standing Shooting Star Press for a nearfall.

Guevara attempts to whip Daniels into the ropes but Daniels counters into a Backslide for a nearfall. Guevara gets a rollup and nearfall of his own and then both men clash with clothesline attempts.

Guevara lifts Daniels up to the top rope and climbs up with him but Daniels shoves him off. Guevara lands on his ropes and then charges at Daniels, but Daniels sidesteps him and connects with an STO. Pentagon Jr. comes out on the ramp and taunts Daniels about whether he can hit the Split Legged Moonsault.

Guevara Superkicks Daniels in the back of the head and gets the pin.

Winner: Sammy Guevara

The Dark Order comes down to the ring and Evil Uno calls Daniels one of the best professional wrestlers of his generation. “Your finger prints are all over wrestling now a days,” he says. “Had it not been for meeting you 15 years ago I may not be what I am today.” Uno says that the fans don’t appreciate or believe in Daniels anymore. He says that the fans spend their time dismissing Daniels and saying that he has lost a step. “I can help,” Uno says. “I can make you the man you once were.” Uno offers Daniels a Dark Order mask as the fans chant “SCU.” Uno says SCU is a thing of the past and tells him to “be one with the Dark Order.” Daniels picks up the mask and starts to put it on but then throws it at Uno and attacks them!

Dark Order beats Daniels down until SCU and The Young Bucks run down and a big brawl ensues! Stu Grayson goes after all of them after they clean house and then he gets stomped down until the other members pull him out. Scorpio Sky hits a Somersault Plancha onto all the members and then one of the other members eats a Superkick Party followed by an STO. Daniels goes to the top and hits the Best Moonsault Ever.

Back to commercial.

Lucha Bros. vs. Cody and Dustin Rhodes

Pentagon and Cody get things started. Pentagon with “Cero Miedo” to Cody, who drops down and hits Pentagon with a punch to the face. They counter each other’s finishers, both Dustin and Fenix tag in. Dustin tries for the running bulldog, no, Fenix tries for a cutter, no. Cody and Pentagon both tagged in again and we’re on a full stalemate between both teams. Cody, for whatever reason, then turns around and eats a kick to the back of the head. Pentagon taunts a bit as he then lights up Cody’s leg. Lucha Bros. control the action during the split-screen break.

Dustin’s leg is getting lit up in this match. He finally gets some offensive, taking down Pentagon and throwing Fenix out to the floor. Fenix now bringing a chair up to the apron, Arn then kicks to the chair away. Fenix and Pentagon stare him down, but Dustin hits a spinebuster on Fenix. Cody really wants in and finally gets it. Cody charges in and hits a hurricrana on Pentagon, then a spinning powerslam on Fenix. Suicide dive on Pentagon, and then a bicycle kick on Fenix, followed up with ten-punches to the head in the corner. Cody takes off the weight belt and launches it into the crowd.

Cody looks for cross rhodes, no, punches Fenix in the face, tries to throw him out of the ring, Fenix whips around the ropes, kick to the face, rolling cutter. Pentagon tagged in, they look for their finisher. Cody shoves Pentagon back and Dustin tags in. Lucha Bros still focused on Cody though. Multiple kicks on Dustin, spinning powerslam on Pentagon. Catches a flying Fenix with an atomic drop. He then hits a canadian destroyer on Fenix! Cody cutter on Pentagon Jr. Dustin with a twisting suplex (final reckoning) on Fenix for the 1-2-3.

Winners: Cody and Dustin Rhodes

Tony Schiavone heads to the ring to talk with Cody. He asks if Cody accepts MJF’s crazu terms before their match can take place at Revolution. Anderson jumps in and doesn’t understand who made MJF God, but he doesn’t get why MJF has so much stroke around here. Anderson says Cody may want it, but they need to talk about it first and will get back to everyone on that answer.

Backstage, Alex Marvez talks with Lanny Poffo who’s here to honor his father (Angelo Poffo) and brother (Randy Savage) as part of the Memphis Wrestling tribute. Lanny appreciated the opportunity to be here to honor his family and as he met the fans he is understanding what makes AEW actually a dynamite product.

MJF heads out to the ring with Wardlow. MJF calls Cody a coward. He says that he will give Cody until the count of 10 to come out and face him like a man. Diamond Dallas Page comes out and interrupts him.

DDP puts the promotion over – along with his yoga deal – and then turns his attention to MJF. DDP calls him “Motor-mouth Jackoff Friedman” and then makes fun of Wardlow’s “man bun” in his hair. DDP says since he had the altercation with them a few weeks ago his Twitter and Instragram blew up with one question for him, “DDP are you coming back for one more match?”

MJF says that even in his prime, DDP could never even lace his boots but now he couldn’t even hold his jock strap. DDP gets in his face but MJF says he doesn’t want to fight DDP, but puts to the stage and says they do as The Butcher and The Blade come out.

MJF says that WCW is dead and so are most of DDP’s fans. He tells him he has two options, he can kiss MJF’s ring and get out of his company or they can send him to Hospice and he’ll take one of his “Diamond daughters” and lay her down in his bed and “bang.”

DDP grabs MJF by the throat and then kills Butcher with a Diamond Cutter! Blade attacks DDP but then eats a Diamond Cutter, too! Allie gets in the ring and distracts him as MJF goes to attack him. DDP goes for a Diamond Cutter but MJF shoves him into Wardlow. MJF then kicks him in the nuts. MJF says what’s about to happen to Cody’s mentor is on him. They go to attack him further but Dustin Rhodes and QT Marshall run out and chase off the heels.

Jurassic Express vs. Best Friends & Orange Cassidy

Jungle Boy and Chuck Taylor start things off with some fast-paced counters. Jungle Boy hits a Triple Jump Lucha Armdrag followed by a Dropkick. Trent Barett and Marko Stunt tag into the match.

Marko paces and hypes himself up before charging at Trent only to get tossed across the ring. Marko dives at Trent but Trent catches him and sits him on the top rope. Marko kicks Trent and then dives off with a Flying Rana! Trent then lays Marko out.

Trent goes for a suplex but Stunt surprises him with a nearfall rollup. Stunt chops Trent which pisses Trent off so he tags Jungle Boy in. Jungle Boy hits an Atomic Drop on Trent and Stunt connects with an Enziguri.

Jungle Boy and Stunt hit a Somersault Senton/Leg Drop combo.

Taylor hits a Falcon Arrow on Jungle Boy for a nearfall. Taylor shoves Jungle Boy into the ropes but Jungle Boy rebounds off with a clothesline. Luchasaurus and Trent both tag in. Luchasaurus lays the Best Friends out with a series of strikes.

Luchasaurus hits a Spinning Enziguri on Trent and then connects with a Stomp on Taylor. Lucha hits a Tail Whip on Trent! Orange Cassidy tags himself into the match for the first time as Trent reached up.

Cassidy does his lazy kicks and then Lucha goes to toss him around but eats a Stunner out of nowhere from OC! OC hits a dropkick to jungle Boy after he blind tagged himself in. Cassidy then hits the Lazy Tope Suicida onto all the members of the Jurassic Express on the floor! Best Friends hug!

Jungle Boy takes Trent out with a dropkick but then Taylor lifts him up into the air and down into a Spear in midair! OC hits Jungle Boy with a Splash off the top for a nearfall! Taylor tags in and tosses Marko into the ropes only to eata a Spinning DDT!

Marko hits a Jurassic Destroyer on Trent! Marko climbs onto Lucha’s shoulders and Lucha tosses him over the top onto OC and Trent! Taylor goes for a Powerbomb on Jungle Boy but Jungle Boy catches him with a Hurricanrana for the pin!

Winners: Jurassic Express

Jim Ross confirms that DDP makes his in-ring return next week as he teams with QT Marshall and Dustin Rhodes against The Butcher and the Blade and MJF.

“Le Champion” Chris Jericho and The Inner Circle make their way to the ring as we go to commercial.

Jon Moxley comes down and Jericho trashes Elvis for some cheap heat. Jericho holds up the Ford GT keys and says it’s gassed up and ready to go for him. He says that they will have a party all night long in Memphis when Moxley joins them.

Moxley says that he’s had a lot to think about and people probably think they know what makes him tick and what his motivations are, but they don’t. “Chris I don’t think you do either,” he says. “You offered me a car, money and 49% of Inner Circle, LLC but I don’t want any of it.”

Moxley says that he cannot be bought and he didn’t come to AEW for money. He says he came to AEW to dominate and run rough shot all over professional wrestling. “That’s why my answer is yes!”

Moxley says that if he is going to dominate then there is no better group to join than The Inner Circle. He calls Jericho the “greatest” and says he will stand by Jericho and The Inner Circle as they dominate AEW! Moxley grabs some bubbly and starts chugging it as Jericho says 2020 will be the Year of the Inner Circle.

The Inner Circle spray champagne around the ring as the fans boo. Jericho hands the keys to the Ford GT over to Moxley as a “you sold out” chant erupts.

Jericho says that he and Moxley won their matches at Wrestle Kingdom in Japan and now they’re going to continue to dominate AEW. Moxley says he forgot one last thing as The Inner Circle starts to leave the ring. “Chris, my friend, I was just kidding,” he says. “I’d never join you guys. The Inner Circle is stupid and you have nothing I want except that (pointing to the AEW Title.”

Moxley smashes a bottle over Jericho’s head and hits him with the Paradigm Shift! Paradigm Shift to Guevara and then he escapes through the crowd!
