WWE took a bad situation with the flight issues they had earlier today and turned around to create one of their best TV shows of 2019 and maybe the best SmackDown in several years.
For those of you that missed it, Triple H was in charge to run tonight’s show. There was a heavy NXT presence on the show and it was treated as an invasion of the blue brand.
Another person who loved the show was Vince McMahon. Whenever he’s dealt a bad hand and talent can’t make it on the show, McMahon’s philosophy is to give fans something better than what was originally planned so that fans feel like they still got their money’s worth even with their favorite stars not being on the show.
After SmackDown, McMahon was telling people backstage that they hit a home run and he seemed very happy with how things went down. The show was rewritten by McMahon just hours before they went on the air. Obviously, Triple H had a lot of influence on the show as well.
You can expect more NXT stars on Raw and SmackDown in the coming weeks as part of the hype for Survivor Series. The feeling is that showcasing NXT stars on Raw and SmackDown should get viewers familiar with them and should, in theory, help to boost the ratings for NXT show that airs on Wednesday nights on the USA Network. We’ll see what happens on Wednesday night. This time NXT and AEW will not have competition from Major League Baseball.
