Most of the key stuff done at the Clash of Champions last night was meant to lead into next month’s Hell in a Cell pay-per-view.
According to Dave Meltzer, the plan right now is for two matches to take place inside of the cell. One cell match will feature male talent and the other cell match will feature female talent.
The Universal Championship match between champion Seth Rollins and challenger “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt will happen inside of the cell and the other planned cell match will be Becky Lynch vs. Sasha Banks in a rematch for the Raw Women’s Championship.
Wyatt attacked Rollins at the end of the show after Rollins successfully defended his title against Braun Strowman.
Lynch and Banks ended in a disqualification when Lynch accidentally hit the referee with a chair. Presumably, the cell match will have a more definitive finish. WWE later said that Lynch would be fined $10,000 for hitting the referee. That is obviously a storyline fine.
Hell in a Cell will take place at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, CA on October 6.
