Roman Reigns Talks Wild Card Rule, Working With The Rock In New Movie, More

Roman Reigns spoke with Brian Fritz of Sporting News, featured below are some of the highlights from the interview.

On the new outlook that his latest leukemia battle left him with:

“For me, it rearranged my perspective because I still enjoy creating. I love to go out there and tell a story through wrestling and sports entertainment, but we’re in a place now where we’re not just performers. We are people. I’ve always wanted to have just a little more of a purpose than just being that entertainer and I think now with my story and the things I’ve gone through, people can connect with me and they can see where I’m coming from and the struggles I’ve been through and it gives them a little better taste of the person I am. If they can connect with Joe a little more than Roman, then I think I’m doing a better job at my career and my life than I was before.”

On working with his cousin Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in the new “Fast and Furious Presents:

Hobbs and Shaw” film out on August 2nd: “I watched it as a fan and I marked out to be honest. I just want to watch it. To be able to mix all that man going on, all that testosterone and then mix it with that competition/camaraderie where they’re one-upping each other, I thought that was pretty brilliant. Being able to work with both of those guys and see their process, it’s very interesting for me to see the final product. I’m very fortunate to work with such an awesome crew.”

On the busy WWE schedule since his return from leukemia, including the Superstar Shakeup, the multiple TV appearances on RAW and SmackDown

Live due to the Wild Card Rule and Money In The Bank:

“It’s been a busy month between the shakeup and what the wild card brings. With the European tour and two weeks there, doing both TV [shows], we had Money in the Bank, ‘Raw,’ and ‘SmackDown,’ it’s been crazy, but that’s what it’s all about. I signed up to be a WWE Superstar and to live the fast life and these are the crazy opportunities and this is the schedule that we run. It can be hard at times, but I think in hindsight whenever I’m an old man and I look back, I think I’ll be pretty proud of a week like this.”
