– After winning the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 35, SmackDown Live fans were eager to see Kofi Kingston finally take on an opponent in a singles match, and with Shinsuke Nakamura recently challenging him, it was the perfect storm for fans to get their wish. To close out tonight’s SmackDown Live, Kingston took on Nakamura, with the modified New Day (complete with Kevin “Big O” Owens) giving commentary from the side.

While Nakamura and Kingston spent most of the match evenly brawling, things quickly went from calm to chaotic in a matter of moments. Towards the end of the match, Rusev interrupted the match, disqualifying Nakamura by attacking Kingston. As Owens and Woods dispatched of him, Nakamura took out Woods and jumped back into the ring, where Kingston took him down. After that, Owens betrayed the New Day, delivering a fierce kick to Kingston before tearing his New Day shirt off and delivering a vicious beating to both Kingston and Woods.
