WWE Mocks CM Punk UFC Loss in Backlash Match, The Usos / Backlash Stat, More

– TMZ has posted the below footage of the opening of the Miz vs Dolph Ziggler WWE Backlash match, and noted WWE spoofed CM Punk’s UFC 203 loss in the opening of the bout.

You might recall the match opened with Ziggler ducking a wild punch from Miz and then Ziggler took Miz down and hit some ground-and-pound fists. Miz, however, was able to escape the beatdown and make it to the ropes for a break.

– During his recent appearance on the Talk Is Jericho podcast with Chris Jericho, WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens shared a funny story about how Finn Balor’s trademark body paint appears in his Titantron video.

Owens said he was ready to make the video in new gear, but a last minute talk with Enzo Amore made him rethink it, and he would stick with the t-shirt and shorts look he’d been recognized with. Owens says he turned his Guns N’ Roses shirt inside-out due to not being allowed to wear that, and wrote ‘FIGHT’ on the shirt using Finn Balor’s body paint.

– According to wrestling statistician Darren Bongiovanni, The Usos and Rikishi are just the second father / son combination to compete at WWE’s Backlash pay-per-view; the first father / son combo to achieve this was Vince and Shane McMahon.

Additionally, Jimmy Uso and Naomi are the first husband and wife to compete on the same WWE Backlash PPV event.
