Although there has been talk of SmackDown Live being extended to three hours, The Wrap is reporting that the show will stay at two hours when it moves to Fox in October.
The reason for this is simple. Unless it’s a major sporting event or the NFL, Fox programming can only run from 8-10 pm eastern because local affiliates take over at 10 pm eastern for local programming.
However, there is the possibility of the third hour of SmackDown Live airing on Fox Sports 1. Yes, if the decision is made to extend the show, then fans would be asked to tune in to FS1 immediately after the Fox broadcast goes off the air.
SmackDown Live will move to Fox on Friday, October 4 at 8 pm eastern. There’s still no word yet on if the show will air live on the west coast or tape delay.
The first episode on Fox is expected to be a loaded show with a ton of top names from both brands and possibly a couple of names from the past. WWE will also be adding a studio show on Tuesday nights. The studio show will air on FS1.
